Good Morning,

I am wondering if any one of you on Prazosin to prevent nightmare?

I am on 1 mg Prazosin and No, I don't have blood pressure issues - I take it for prevent nightmare. My psych does not want to increase any more dosage due to side effect and would want to be cautious. The goal is to have me to be accomplish without too many impacts on side effects.

Does Prazosin helps me? Yes, at the most of time, sometimes it doesn't. Most of time, I am not able to remember dream and I would know if I have bad dream (even I don't remember) by the impact on how I sleep.

Any experiences?

Hi,
I've been on prazosin for 3 years at 3mg at bedtime. I haven't noticed any side effects. It works to keep nightmares away completely. The Drs say that it is not very useful for lowering blood pressure. I have different medcine for high Blood Pressure.
Hope That helps.

@Mercy

Sounds like it is not a great medication for blood pressure but good for prevent nightmares?

I have thoughts about ask to increase dosage and keep an eye on side effects.

Let see what other people may say here.

Again, Thanks

Hi @PureDogs,

I'm not sure if you're aware, but you can do a search for Prazosin to see what members have said about it in the past. I don't take it myself as I rarely have nightmares, but I've noticed this topic come up from time to time on the forum. Maybe the old threads could give you more info as well?

I am on prazosin 2 mg at bedtime. 1 mg worked for a while but they had to up the dose because it wasn't working that great. I also recently got put on another medication that sedates me so now I sleep good.

@Solara

Thank you for let me know and I do notice that there are search to similar topic.

I understand these are old threads and I thought it might be good have a updated information.

@FindingMyself88

I wonder about that because sometimes it isn't always effective

@PureDogs

I am on Prazosin for nightmares as well. I've been on it for about 4 years. I started with low doses and am now taking 10mg at bedtime. As with your experiences, it helps me most of the time, but not all the time. For the most part, I cannot remember my dreams and the dreams that I can remember are not nightmares... more like very strange and interesting dreams that are sometimes comical in nature.

The side-effects that I have noticed (which could be from everything I take) are only a 'groggy' and 'hungover' feeling for the first 30 minutes after I wake up.

Just started taking 2 mg this past Sunday. Started with 1 mg about a month ago.

Last night I was not helped pissed on my self woke up with a "brain bruise" mentally stunted.

When you carry "heavy shit" in your head only death may end the suffering.
