New Here
Hi
I am a Psychology Masters student at the University of Hertfordshire (and also someone who has experienced PTSD); I am researching into life goals in relation to responses to stress and trauma. Research has shown that writing about one's life goals can yield many health benefits. It is hoped that my research will address this question.

The survey should take you no longer than 40 minutes and your responses will be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Avril

Hi Avril, Since you're new, I think you have to get a staff member to put the link in for you. (I think you can "report" your own post to do this.)

I am very interested to see your study as you are also a sufferer of PTSD. Sometimes I wonder at the studies that get posted here as they miss fundamental things about this disorder (ie they are set up by someone who only knows PTSD from the outside, that is what they've learned from textbooks and such.)

Hi 'Solara' I have emailed the staff via the contact us section so hopefully they will put my link in soon. I have suffered with my mental health for over 10 years now and it is why I want to have a career in Psychology. I am trying to find an intervention that will help relieve the symptoms of stress/trauma - namely writing about ones own life goals. I personally find writing about how I am feeling helpful. writing about life goals will hopefully create some form of personal 'growth'. The survey does include questions that asks you to think about your particular 'trauma' whilst answering some questions. I know this can be difficult as I myself still get flashbacks to an event that happened 9 years ago. But without research we aren't going to find any solutions that might help us and other people in the long run. People also have the option to find out about the results of the survey as well once it is completed.

As a sufferer and future Psychology student (fingers crossed the funding can be sorted by September) please count me in as well.

Laurie

Thanks guys. I really appreciate that you will take time out of your day to fill out my survey. Hopefully they can add the link soon.

Hi again,

I am even more interested now! I think that its great that you find writing about your life goals to be helpful. I think that many of us get caught up in the symptom management side of things and other aspects of life sort of fall by the wayside. Well, that's sort of how I feel as my symptoms had been high for a number of years, and it hasn't been until just this past summer that I seriously started to think of what I am going to do now that I am becoming much more functional.

Can you tell me the last date to take this? I would like to participate but I am not in a good place to be doing so right now. Thanks.

Done also, I noticed that so took them to be the same as if only one.
