Has anyone seen a sudden recurrence of daytime incontinence with a flare in PTSD symptoms? I had some daytime incontinence issues until I was 17, while I was living in my father's house. It stopped after I moved out (and moved on).

Now 13 years later my dad is living near me again and has been mending relationships with extended family. They want me to forgive him as well and long story short I've been forced to be around him more than I want.

Ongoing for about 3 months now I've had partial incontinence issues. I'm having other PTSD symptoms and seeing a psychologist about it, but I haven't told her about the incontinence and frankly I'm scared to. She's about my age and I don't know if she'll be disgusted by it. I had a full release at the very end of therapy 2 weeks ago, I think it was as I was walking out, but I didn't notice until I got to my car. If it happened before that then she either didn't notice or didn't want to say anything. I'm worried I'll ruin someone's furniture at some point.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced short term partial incontinence due to PTSD? Would you bother seeing a medical doctor or is this almost definitely psychological? Has anyone told a therapist and if so what was their response?

I piss myself when i dont want to pee. I cant pee when i want to pee.

Its backwards.
I think anything that disrupts our nervous system can make the body do things out of our control.
Autonomic stuff.

Try not to feel too disgusted sharing with therapist. They can only help to understand. My counselor is same age group and i told him all the stories of spots n sprinkles.

I hope it clears up for you. I know the awkward feeling and the energy of dealing with incontinence.

I had this problem too.
I flat out told my therapist and it passed.
I started going to the bathroom as soon as I felt the tiniest amount of pee in me, and right before therapy too.

It passed, though, so there's hope.

I'm sorry you're struggling with this, it sucks!

It’s a normal part of the adrenaline response. In short / & incompletely... blood gets yanked to your core, heartarte increases, breathing shallows, pupils constrict, your immune system shuts down, & your digestive system shuts off / voids (this is where the term piss-scared or shit-scared comes from).

It ALL makes evolutionary sense, but it’s annoying as all get out in everyday life.

Just like training other autonomic resposes that are part of panic attacks / anxiety attacks to come back under conscious control... this one can be, too.

Talk with your therapist about it. They should be super familiar with it, and one better, able to help.
