Hi, I'm an ex police officer and just been diagnosed with PTSD/trauma causing memory loss and disassociation. I am struggling to cope. Are there any uk cops/ex cops on the forum I can chat to?

Welcome to the community!

We've got a few LEOs & former sworn officers & aux -from several different countries, not sure about UK specifically- in the forums. Also, just in related job culture & ethos, quite a few EMS/First Responders, and a handful of combat vets & prior service military. :) The LEOs may or may not be on right now, but in the meantime, welcome aboard.

ETA... As a suggestion, you'll have access to a lot more areas of the forum, including archived threads dealing specifically with Police & similar, if you register as a member. Certainly not required, as you can already tell, posting as a guest. Just far easier to navigate around as either a full member or premium member than as a guest.

Tony, i am a retired Sheriff with PTSD. I first wish to let you know i admire you for coming forward for help. Many officers try to hide it, intil it gets so bad they cant work anymore.. I have 25 yrs law enforcement. Weve seen more than anyone can imagine. Im here for you anytime you need to talk.

My husband was a PC in the Met for 10 years, then the MDP for 7, until he was forced to medically retired due to his PTSD.

He doesn't come on here himself, but he still benefits from the support and information that I gain through the forum as his supporter.

Welcome! I'm not a leo, not by any stretch of the imagination. I spend a lot of time with them, though, I help with training them to for REAL be able to win, and teaching them several ways out of any random fight. I admire you for wanting to pursue this,

Welcome to the forums  I hope this place helps you. It's very useful because of the bulk amount of people who feel similar and understand. There is a lot of advice and support to be found here :) I hope that this amazing community helps you as much as it helped me, reading all the similar stories, and learning a lot along the way. Hugs if you accept
