Ptsd poetry anyone?

The machine is
Terrifying. The coin
Is covered in slick
Ridges, sharp as a
Shark's tooth, and
Will cut your flesh.
But the slot is a
Truly amazing thing
To behold. It's located
Right in the center
Of a randomly opening
And closing maw,
Not just surfaced with
Spikes longer than a
Serpent's fangs - a pinprick
Coated with venom will
Surely send your blood
Pressure dangerously down -
But the jaws surrounding the
Slit randomly open, close,
Taking a hand, or an arm if
Your reach is longer. With
Luck maybe only a finger. But
The product is glimmering,
Shining, and it's something
You knew, the second your
Eyes locked on it, you were
Going to have to own it. You
Know this. Your whole life
Has been just for this moment.
Careless, with care, you grasp for
The coin. It's time. No one knows your
Despair, your desire, your blood singing
Within your body, saying take it, take it now.

Dark is OK by me. Maybe just put a warning above it, so anyone who would not want to read it, would...

Share your dark! SpritSong has a good idea to put a warning label above it! You share your dark, love to hear it....couldn't be more eerie than Pit in the Penduleum by E.A. Poe, could it?....if it is, it's okay! I like some of his almost all dark poetry. It could be freeing!

OK, I put it behind a spoiler.

So amazing. Now I'll admit, I had to read this five times before I replied. Each time I read it, there were a few more parts or phrases that provided the creative imagery taking this from beginning to a very clear ending. This is a "way cool" poem! I'm intrigued by your simple but highly creative comparison and the poetic language just wows it! Not so dark...maybe just a little. Seriously well-crafted!

So, I'm an English teacher, and gave you my initial response from my teachery part. I'm dying to know, what was your inspiration for this poem?....don't tell if it is too personal.......It is very cool.

Yes, but you really did hang it out there....that's hard to do, and you made yourself vulnerable. Pat yourself on the back. Putting feelings into imagery or making it into a nontraditional image or story I believe is.....a gift. You made sense of your jumble, WTG! Feel lighter.

This was definitely Poetry for Procrastination! (Off to do my taxes now!)

Limericks In Response to My Variant Memory Loss

Solving the Kitchen Burning Dinner Issue

A timer is placed by my bed,
Remember to set timer ahead!
No more smoke, no black pot,
What’s that smell? Shit, I forgot!
To train kitty to set it instead!

Where Are My Socks?

Where’s the right match to my sock? Where’d it go?
My cat must have moved it, I know!
Through the laundry I flail,
I can’t find it, …I fail,
Now my feet are a creative combo.

OnStar, OnStar Where Are You?

There once was a girl from afar,
Always lost the keys to her car,
With PTSD,
frustrated she’d be,
Save the Day! She now calls OnStar!

There once was a gal from Debone,
Always forgot to charge her own phone,
Lost the keys to her car,
And couldn’t go far,
Can’t reach OnStar, she’s now so alone.

Where’s My Bag?

Where’s my bag? Says a lady named Freddie,
I need to pay the tech for my pedi,
I just had it, I know,
Right here, where’d it go?
“In your hand Ma’am, Now are you ready?”

Making a To Do List

My therapist said, “Where is your list?”
“You should make one and things won’t get missed,”
I write one, it’s fine,
got distracted-red wine,
My list, I have lost, I’m so pissed!

Can Anyone Help Me?

I’m driving along and no clue,
Where am I going? An answer comes through,
“Turn” I’m told, “ I ask why?”
A reply says, “Just try,”
Trust your insiders, they know what to do!

So I turn, and I gawk with my eyes,
For a clue, and suddenly I realize,
I’m headed back home,
And I really should’ve known,
My insiders are protectively wise.

So when I’m lost now, I kindly just say,
Where was I going? or Which is the way?
An answer I trust,
No more stress or disgust,
And this so simplifies my whole day!

Maybe just put a warning above it, so anyone who would not want to read it
a good idea to put a warning label above it!
We do not use trigger warnings, or warning labels, at myPTSD.

The Community Constutution explains:
MyPTSD does not use trigger warnings. Mind reading what could be a trigger for another is a negative thinking style, a problem all PTSD sufferers need to correct at some level. Whilst some view its use as a courtesy, it is impossible to know what will, or will not, trigger another person, regardless the graphic detail contained. After all, this is a space where those affected can discuss trauma and its consequences.

I just thought it wasn't appropriate for social.......and was more in line with suicide and depression because of the ending. Thanks for the clarification.
