PTSD Space - Coming Soon - Your Input

Two things:

First, LMAO to Nicolette's jab re: Anthony's big mouth....Hee hee.

Second, I know several people in person, or from online survivor groups, who have PTSD, and I would send them invites to the PTSDspace. I've also referred several people I know who have PTSD to come here, and they have, and are now members . I think this thing would take off in a big way given time, and I think it is a good idea. It would only increase the sense of community and friendship that we have here, in a more fun and laidback setting.

Anthony,

Actually I do know 3 other people (in real life) that have PTSD, so you are wrong on that one....

I also had a facebook account Anthony, but have since deactivated my account. I closed it for a personal reason and nothing more. So you are wrong again...

As far as the social aspect of an online community, such as this one.....This is a place for healing, and I use it as such, but I have managed to make several friends here, and I have taken those friendships OFF of this site, and developed them in person, through the phone, or via email. I personally like to meet people face to face, I don't have many friends, but I feel that having friends in the flesh is much more healthy. I have contact daily with people in my work, so I am not closed off, by any means.... Nor am I closed off to your idea of this new venture of yours.

Hey Wendy,

I am not angry or bitter here... so please do not take it as such. If you know 3 other people offline with PTSD, then I honestly do not understand why you had negativity and said such things as you did in this thread previously... I am sorry, but do not understand. You said:

My point is, that many of us here have stated that we know NO ONE (in person) that have PTSD and this site is the one site that they have to know others with PTSD.....If this is the case then WHO do you invite, as the site is ONLY available for those with PTSD.....
So, if you know three people offline with PTSD, then you automatically have someone to invite. What got me was your viewpoint towards this. You jumped to "all or nothing" conclusions, you used "all or nothing" words / phrases, as "we know NO ONE (in person)" which denotes yourself. So you could understand how I could be confused as to why the negativity in the first place when you say one thing, then say something completely different, whilst I could only read these things as including yourself. I am a little confused to be honest.

I fail to see the negativity, when you do have people you could invite if you wanted. I am not saying that the site is for everyone, far from it. Like this website, it is not for every person with PTSD. This is why the Internet encompasses such diversity in the first place, such choices. I could understand if you just had an opinion, but when you include aspects of facts then change them, I get confused. Sorry.

Age can be a barrier for these things, state of mind, etc. Confused what you are saying... sorry!

I personally wouldn't use it.. just because I don't like myspace.. but I think it's a great idea... I'm a big fan of facebook myself.. lol

Anthony,

The people that I know personally with PTSD....One of them does not own a computer. One is in total denial about her condition, refuses to seek therapy, and deals with her issues as best as she can. The third, uses (for lack of wording) earthy crunchy therapy. She lives in Ca, is very eccentric, need I say more.

I have told them all about the forum, they have all chosen to not participate, so why would I think that they would join a community that would be filled with PTSD sufferers???

Nicolette & Anthony.....

I am not trying to be difficult, nor argue with anyone. I was merely answering Anthony's questions. But, I guess we are giving that appearance, and that's not my intention at all......

If either of you took it as so, I apologize...

This is good to hear Wendy, thanks. Honestly... like some of these friends of yours... I agree, the Internet is not for everyone. I am not targeting those people though, I am targeting those who have PTSD and want a social online space to interact with one another, not be targeted on myspace or facebook by others with nasty names because they listed they have PTSD, called sooks, lazy, get over it, etc etc, by public persons who have nothing better than to stir shit or be ignorant to life.

No, your not being difficult, I am only discussing. Bec said it too... she is highly likely not to use it. Not everyone will... because everyone is a silly target.

Honestly, some things I do I know I am wasteing my time to do... that is why I do them in the first place... to waste my time because I have nothing else to do. This one... I don't believe is one of those things. This project will have a very large impact on those with PTSD all across the world over the coming years.

No problems here either...Anthony, I hope that your new site takes off as you hope it does.....

I had a run the other day to a VA clinic, while I was there I asked the Head Doc
how was business, he said, were busier than ever with all the young people
coming home and it's only gonna get worse.
I believe what this is, pertaining to this site, is progress weither you agree or not look outside the box.
Hey I love my record albums but my daugher has never seen one. Progress....

Take care.

FIRE.
