Repressed memories

Not that I can recall.

Dissociation has become a problem for me over the last year. I don't think it happens so much when I sleep, but sometimes when I wake up, the memories of a nightmare no longer are a problem at all. So perhaps I do dissociate even at night when real memories play out as a nightmare.

But my mind blanking out parts of an event isn't the same thing as what you're asking about...I'm pretty sure.
 
@Alice in Wonderland I know stuff happened. Unlike the beginning of this thread, I was in the middle of an invasive medical procedure when I completely dissociated.

Yes, I do want my memories back. Badly. I don't have any closure to it. I dream about it and all I get is extreme pain and fear. I can't go any further. My mind shuts down. I honestly have no recollection at all. Not even a hint.

I had a friend with me so I'm not concerned about anything inappropriate having happened. I just can't stand the empty space when the procedure was as invasive as it was. It was a similar setup of my original trauma I guess. That's probably why the missing memories are so important.

I agree-I want closure too. As I continue with therapy, EMDR, and journalling I am slowly connecting pieces. It's just a long process.

How did I know it was repressed or that it was an actual true memory? Or both.
