Has anyone found other PTSD websites that are beneficial? I stumbled across this site, but there must be more out there. Or any literature that you would recommend?

Someone on this board recommended "The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook." I started reading it and it is amazing for a "newbie" like me - well written and comprehensive. It is really helping me to understand the disorder, how it manifests in me, and the impact it has had on my life. I found a PDF online and will buy it when I am able to. Why none of my health professionals have suggested anything like this is beyond me!

I am focusing on boosting self esteem and getting back into social settings. I have been home for over 2 years and I am trying to get out of my comfort zone. I love being a stay at home Mom, but I would like to return to college.

I have anxiety, panick attacks, depression and PTSD. All of these things have surfaced in the past 3 years.

I am pretty goal and solution oriented (I'm a supporter). I like Francine Shapiro's latest book, Getting Past Your Past. She talks about coping techniques in some of the early chapters, and she also talks a lot about EMDR, which is a treatment used by many sufferers.

Peter Levine's Healing Trauma is also practical.

If you have a smart phone, there is an app called iChill which you can find in both the Android and Apple app stores. It is free.

There is a forum called crazyboards but I spend a lot more time here than there.

Downloading the app as we speak. I greatly appreciate your help. I will be sure to look into the books too.

I am using an app called "Optimism" which allows me to track my mood, sleep, medication, symptoms, triggers, stay well strategies; and notes for the day. My psychiatrist suggested I track my moods to rule out biploar. It is also a helpful tool for discussion with mental health professionals. It comes as an app and there is an online version - search for finding optimism.

I am reading the article now. It's perfect, Thank you
