For a long time Samsung has dumped on Apple for being as expensive as they are, yet most of Apple's components used to be built by / provided by Samsung. Apple pulled away from Samsung as much as possible, thus their prices have fallen on consumer products over the past few years as a result. They're doing it smaller and better than Samsung, without giving away so much directly to Samsung to replicate them due to build specs.
Funnily enough, as a result, many Samsung current products are now more expensive than Apple products. Samsung tablets range from 60% more to 110% more than Apple tablets. Samsung phones are now $800+ for the latest offerings, even up-to $1000. You can buy the latest Apple iPhone for under $600.
Hmmmm... was it Apple who was expensive, or was it Samsung all along? Seems kind of ironic that now Apple have pulled most of their production and reliance from Samsung, their prices are cheap and Samsung's are increasing.
Jeez... Samsung aren't even developing their own OS, but using Googles freely available one... so that cost isn't involved. Profiteering maybe? Were they just always more expensive and driving Apples prices due to parts reliance?
