Samsung's Hypocrisy Versus Apple

For a long time Samsung has dumped on Apple for being as expensive as they are, yet most of Apple's components used to be built by / provided by Samsung. Apple pulled away from Samsung as much as possible, thus their prices have fallen on consumer products over the past few years as a result. They're doing it smaller and better than Samsung, without giving away so much directly to Samsung to replicate them due to build specs.

Funnily enough, as a result, many Samsung current products are now more expensive than Apple products. Samsung tablets range from 60% more to 110% more than Apple tablets. Samsung phones are now $800+ for the latest offerings, even up-to $1000. You can buy the latest Apple iPhone for under $600.

Hmmmm... was it Apple who was expensive, or was it Samsung all along? Seems kind of ironic that now Apple have pulled most of their production and reliance from Samsung, their prices are cheap and Samsung's are increasing.

Jeez... Samsung aren't even developing their own OS, but using Googles freely available one... so that cost isn't involved. Profiteering maybe? Were they just always more expensive and driving Apples prices due to parts reliance?

Well now I know why new apple products are cheaply made crap while my really old iphone is still humming along. My new iphone will be dead soon. Oh well. Won an HTC ONE and can't wait for it to get here. This family will no longer be buying Apple products!

Interesting...I didn't know they were at one time so closely linked.

I don't have Samsung so I don't know, but I would think they are hugely different in terms of hardware and software. I would think having a Samsung phone would be like having a phone with windows on it; Heavy, slow and always freezing.

Price wise though I have heard people complain that Apple is expensive too but it's all about quality as well. I have a MacBook Pro, brought a few years ago when I started college. I believe it's about 3 years old now and it never has issues. Recently it was slower, my husband added some memory for 75 dollars and it's great. I am willing to put down more money for an Apple if it will last me through college and never lose my homework becasue it crashed (My MacBook has never crashed...)

Sounds like maybe they were taking advantage of Apple technology while they could and now hoping that people will buy their products based on their name.[DOUBLEPOST=1398726861,1398726722][/DOUBLEPOST]@Solara I very much disagree that new Apple products are cheaply made crap.

There are 8 Apple products in my house. An iPad, iPad mini, three laptops, two iPhones and a desktop. None of them have ever had an issue.

It might be you to be honest. I have heard of people buying Mac's and then running Windows on them!

Edited to add: Oopps, forgot an old iPod that still works...So 9 Apple products.

Apple are far from rubbish products @Solara, and are considered superior in quality compared to Samsung products due to engineering.

Samsung products are cheaply made... as are all electronics nowadays. Premium brands use quality assurance processes and engineering that make them premium. There are equally enough people who have issues with Samsung phones and tablets as there are Apple phones and tablets. The two are quite literally equal quality... just the roles have reversed in pricing.

Samsung's major problems actually derive in their choice of OS, because there is no over-sight on Googles OS, thus people are getting dodgy apps by the bucket loads compared to Apple customers, who's apps from the Apple store are all checked for legitimacy and quality.

If Samsung were smart, they would do the same for their own customers to thwart some of the fraud occurring through use of Android smartphone apps stealing private data and sending it to thieves. Saying that though... if you download an app for your Apple product outside the Apple store, you take equally the same risk of sending your private / financial data to thieves and ending up another statistic for credit fraud. It's just happening a lot more with Android customers due to no failsafe in the app market.

The worse thing is that Google don't even have customer service. You literally cannot ring them... its all via Google groups crowd support type help. If I have an issue with my iPhone, I take it into an Apple store, if faulty, they give me a new one or give me a replacement whilst they fix it, at no charge to me for like 3 years.

I thought Samsung was really going to keep their market dominance in pricing Apple out, but it seems they did a huge backflip and went the other way. They entered cheaper than Apple to get the business, and are now pricing themselves out of the market hoping to keep customers as a loyal base. People are fickly nowadays, and they buy the cheapest, even in premium product offerings, they review the premium offering and buy the cheapest one, especially when the difference is double the price. You can get away with slight differences, but double?

Maybe this is why I can see for myself when out and about, more iPads than Galaxy Tabs... already people changed for pricing. The young adult market is the largest for tablets and phones... go ask them to pay double for a Galaxy anything vs Apple iX? Even my stepson went from Galaxy back to iPhone, because the iPhone became cheaper than the Galaxy.

Samsung are digging themselves a deep hole IMHO. Apple profit reports are back up as a result, along with their share price being on the rise again.

Don't get me wrong... Samsung are a huge company with their finger in so many industries... but the electronics one... they seem to be doing more wrong than right, lately. It is a very weird change in their behaviour IMHO.

My next computer or laptop will definitely be an apple! I'm so fed up with windows! We have one desktop and two laptops with windows. And even though I'm not a beginner at security and all that, I wasted entire nights, to "disinfect" our computers. With the money we've spent to protect these three computers, we could easily buy another iPad. And as a customer, I sometimes feel like I'm a slave of microsoft. Meh!

My best friend has an iPad 2 since 3 years, uses it every single day, and she's got never any problems with it. It's simply a great tool.

Well, we've got 2 for 2 newer generation apple products which are dying, which is enough for us! Switching out of happenstance, nothing more, nothing less. I would've taken a free iPhone, but Apple didn't have a Twitter contest where you could win one of 200 free iPhones, so I'm making the jump to HTC. Can't complain, it was free. My dad's iPhone is dying, too, sad to say. We never had this problem with any of our older Apple products. I'm sure they work fine for other people, but we've made our decision, no more IOS! Now I just need to wait for my new phone to arrive in my mailbox.....:-)

If you installed more current IOS versions upon an older phone, that is typically the issue. Apple often just make an upgrade available, people think an upgrade is better, to only find the latest version of IOS developed for the current model, doesn't play so nicely on an older model. It is something we've learnt, and we won't go beyond an IOS version now that is meant for a newer model phone.

I think we went entirely Apple about 3 years ago, and since then... not a problem. Nicolette had a couple of hardware issues, though Apple sent out a technician within a couple of days to replace the parts / item at no cost to us. Dealing with Apple is just so easy compared to prior computer experiences and expenses. Our Apples were definitely more expensive to buy, but overall in comparison to PC's when we used them, they've now become cheaper over the longterm use of them compared to PC.

We used to have a strictly Apple household. My current job (work from home) requires me to use Windows so I had to buy a desktop to fulfill that requirement. When my last iMac died a couple of years ago (it had a long life) I just couldn't justify the expense of purchasing a new one when I had another computer that was working. We have iPhones, iPads, etc but I do miss my iMac.

I love my ipad and hate the Samsung galaxy tab. I've actually cradled my ipad and held it to my face.
