While I've never been diagnosed with it I do believe I have PTSD. Usually it is manageable. But I've recently detoxed off of methadone and I also have a 2 1/2 month old infant. Between the baby and the methadone detox induced insomnia needless to say I am incredibly sleep deprived.
The last few nights I've been in a good deep sleep (non consecutive) my boyfriend has come into the room and I've startled awake... The first night I just startled really badly and he says "it's ok baby" and I'm fine. But last night was bad. He said he came into the room to get his pjs and he saw I was asleep, baby down in his crib in the corner, and bent down and kissed me. He barely touched me and I shot awake, pretty sure I swung on him and was screaming just hysterically. He grabbed me up and hugged me and was saying "baby, baby, baby, it's ok." Finally I kind of came to and realized it was him, I was home and there was no threat. My hearts racing, he bent down and just held me for awhile while I calmed down and got myself back right.
This has never happened before and it's been years since the startling has even been this bad, especially when it come to my boyfriend.
Could it be the sleep deprivation? I'm not even sure what I'm trying to ask here, just looking for any input anyone may have. I've woken up one time years ago in the middle of the night semi screaming which IS night terror. But what is this? When I'm being woken by someone startling and screaming? Is this a night terror? Or PTSD induced symptoms?
Thanks in advance for any input.
