Hi everyone! My name is Maya MacGibbon, and I am a doctoral student in clinical psychology at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. I am recruiting individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD (CPTSD), and those without trauma-related difficulties for a study exploring the relationship between attention and posttraumatic stress. The purpose of the study is to better understand attention difficulties in trauma disorders. Participants may enter a raffle to win one of three $50 Amazon gift cards upon completing the study. Thank you for your time and consideration!

I’m curious/thrilled/intrigued about your prerequisites… as I both have ADHD-C & TBI comorbid with PTSD (Combat Vet, NGO Worker, Bad marriage, etc.)… as well as a degree/focus in neuropsych.

- What’s you’re thinking?
- As ADHD & Bipolar Disorder are sister-disorders are you relying on the “no antipsychotic” med disqualification to rule out bipolar disorder, or is bipolar a gradient outlier that’s useful to you?
- By “no stimulant use” are you seriously disincluding all western coffee & tea drinkers? Or simply attempting to double disinckude ADHD’ers, athletes, adrenaline junkies, etc.?

Very much looking forward to your answer. There’s clearly biochem that’s caught your eye/curiosity, I’d be delighted to understand better / has never thrown up flags for me… as to date PTSD does not appear to be contraindicated with any other pre-existing/baseline neurology… where’s you’re head at? There’s clear joie de vivre, or at least something that alighted your interest, in your specific exclusions. ADHD is only 4-6% of the population. Stimulant takers (coffee/tea/energy drinks) well over 90%, add in adrenaline junkies, addicts, sleep disorders, etc. who all use stimulants, & you’re at 99.999 bar. So SOMETHING clearly sparked your interest. I am deeply intrigued as to the connection you’ve noticed & are therefore studying.
