My dr upped my seroquel to 600mg before I go to bed. I thought seroquel makes you tired but it takes 2 hrs before I am ready to sleep. Is that common? My dr said he might have to give me a higher dose. I take it for sleep and moods. He just told me I am bipolar also with the ptsd. i also take 300mg of effexor in the morning. I am just a little worried about taking so much seroquel. I have taken just about every antidepressant there is and none if them helped that is why he put me on seroquel.

I took trazodone and prazosin and they worked somewhat but I still would have problems sleeping. The seroquel is working a little better but I still wake up frequently. I guess I am just wirried about the dose. I dont even feel groggy in the morning either and I have read that people feel like that. I think he put me on a higher dose because my anxiety and depression are real bad. I appreciate your reply!

I have the same issues with sleep as you, I wake up very frequently. Also I am prone to flashbacks at night and even when I don't get them I am tense about getting one so falling asleep is gross too. My doc gave me Ativan (it's a benzo, so you'd have to be careful about it since it's addictive) and it's worked like a charm for me. It doesn't knock you out or make you loopy/groggy, it just takes away the tension and makes you feel normal, and then you can fall asleep like a regular person. (And stay asleep!) I don't know if your doc has ever tried those with you before.

I know seroquel is often used as an antipsychotic, so I would really look for a different sleep aid....long term those things cause problems....motor disorders....I was almost prescribed that as well but refused. It will make ya sleepy though! Good luck, whatever your decision is.
