I am going to start on a very low dose of Seroquel for sleep & was wondering if anyone had any issues with weight gain on 25mg?

Also wondering how well it works for sleep!

My psychiatrist classifies Seroquil as a "belly buster". Meaning, in his experiences, it's one that can cause weight gain on the higher end of things.

But probably not so much at such a small dosage. Just keep an eye on it for sure.

I am on 100mg daily and have been so for the last 7 years. When I first started (for about a year or so) I gained a bit of weight. It was more 'puffiness' and fluid retention than actual weight. But after a while the side effects subsided. 100mg is a relatively low dose though, I know of some people on 800mg a day. It should be okay but if you experience any unwanted side effects it is best to speak to your GP or psychiatrist. All the best :)

I have been on 25mg for about 4 months now. In the initial month, I found that 1/2 a pill gave me plenty of relief from insomnia. I didn't really worry about the nurse's warning about weight gain because I was down to 223lbs from the 285lbs I weighed 6months prior(due to a long depression). Needless to say, I was taking a whole pill(25mg) within the month and today I weigh 275lbs. I know the only change in my lifestyle was the medicine and continuation of the extra physical activity I had started originally to lose the weight. I hope you don't find weight gain to be an issue; it's a vey effective med. I see that a lot of others have posted with similar experiences as mine, though so just keep an eye out-you are being proactive in educating yourself on the risks and that's awesome! ☻ I wish you the best,

25mg is immediate release as the lowest if XR (extended release) is 50mg. Is it for sleep or anxiety or other daytine stuff or what?

I am on 200mg XR and it does cause MASSIVE sugar cravings. I have been on this same amount for about 6 months or so and I still have them. I have gained weight. A lot of weight. But I think it is due to the sugar cravings. I have not taken 25mg for longer then a day but being the lowest mg for immediate release and being immediate release and not building up in your body like the extended release does, I don't know if it would have the same effect.

I try to curve the craving by sucking on butterscotch and things like that.

I didn't put on much weight on 25 mg. I was on 350 mg for a while though and on that dose I put on quite a bit of weight.
