Should I Walk Away From My Family?

You bring tears to my eyes Philippa.

We do not get a manual or training for the biggest job we can take on, being a parent. But....we have to be willing to learn just the same.

My daughter is 12 and we are starting down a road where I will be tested in all that I have said to you in my messages about letting her be who she is. We will have disagreements and I will have to be her parent and provide her with guidance and boundaries. That being said, I promise myself and her that I will contribute to her and not take from her.

It sounds like some really bad things happened to you in your life and for that I am so so very sorry! The only thing you can do now is to protect yourself and do what is best for you going forward. We can all learn from each other in our lives and I thank you because I have learned from you in these posts and gotten more perspective about the situation with my brother.

I often think these experiences have a reason, and the only reason I can think of is to be able to provide learning for those who are willing to open their eyes and ears to the lesson. So, if what I shared can help you go forward and not make the same mistake with your own precious daughter, then at least it wasn't all for nothing.
