I came across this specialized therapy for trauma, somatic experiencing, watched some videos on how it's conducted and why it's so effective. Pioneered by Dr Peter Levine (I think of UCLA) but don't quote me on that, somatic experiencing is such a potent tool for healing trauma because it treats trauma physiologically, since trauma ptsd is essentially a physiological issue- there is some verbal processing of the painful feelings but as I understand it primarily seeks to release the actual trauma from the body. Trauma is stored in the cells and body systems- it occurs when the fight or flight mode is not played out as it does in nature. So this trauma utilizes modes to release the physical pathology of the fight or flight that's been frozen or stored in the body and releasing it out of the body. I would really like to try this and looking into it.
