Something I Will Not Do This Weekend In New Jersey

Unless your down under like some of our mates you can't hardly escape the insanity being stirred up by Super bowl 48. Being about a stones throw from the Met Life stadium and drive by it several times a week the level of activity has peaked around Wednesday this week. What stood out for me is the level of security that being imposed for the event.

PTSD and armed security is not a good combination for this old war-dog. Between the crowds and the obvious sight of armed local police in their best urban assault gear raises my anxiety and hypervigilence. Now, there is a warning of envelopes of white powder showing up at a few hotels - nice, very nice. Again, evidence that the sickos will rise to the top of the heap in this environment. Frankly, I love pro football, but this show is not about football it's clearly about $$$$$. That's OK, after all, it's a business and those involved are entitled to make a buck. The real losers are the the year round fans who support each team and are left behind.

With all the restaurants and hotels filled for miles around I will not venture too far from the nest until it's over. Unfortunately, the crazies own the weekend in the garden state I'll read about it in the paper on Monday.

I wouldn't even stick around for that, I'd be leaving town if that was happening in my neighborhood.

I'll be working Super Bowl at the office. There's about 20 flat screens surrounding out 300+ desks, including two brand new 91 inch tv's. Everyone that works there is supporting the sea chickens, I'm considering getting a bronco's short just to piss people off lol

I boycotted football of all sorts three months ago. Unbelievable what it has become, especially college football. Then all the security crap. Might as well hire TSA to take over security for all the games. Assisted by NSA of course.

Not really Sarg, they'd more likely think - Oh shit, another foreclosure. Actually I'm thinking maybe a mote, yeah, that would get their attention. Na, screw-it! For one lousy day I'll just mount the Ol' 50 on the front porch That's cheaper than all the dam permits for the mote.

Talk about police anxiety....

One night last week, there was another commotion at the house across the street. The cops came this time (before it was undercover, dressed in civvies) with the lights blazing. Three of them. I had to get up and go to the other room on the far side of the house.

My wife slept through it all. Amazing.....

I found out the neighbor's daughter is a coke freak. She was not home at the time.

Yup, the thought of setting up a sniper's blind on the 2nd floor happens quite often. It's funny how I am not affected when I handle my own weapons but the sight of someone else having a gun and I don't is really hard to handle.

I hear ya. Every year, during Cheyenne Frontier Days, I stay out of the city. I intentionally reschedule my VA appointments so I don't have to go near that level of insanity.

I actually made it through a car show (really big one) this summer with a friend. He loaned me one of his bikes and we would pedal a ways look a little and on. It was weird. Something about being on a bicycle eased my apprehension quite well and my back. Having the right med has really made it easier to be out in public for short periods of time. But it wears thin and I have to get out fast.

I dunno. I like being a recluse!!! Life is so much simpler.

Ugh, live in Seattle and the f*ckin chuckleheads were out in droves lastnight. Promised my girl I'd go and have a beer with her and her friends. Shoulda stayed home, she started in on me about not being intimate (YA WHILE WE WERE AT A BAR) place was packed, I just stood near the wall. Hate pro American sports, except land speed records and drag racing. Basically anything they play with balls is a joke. Players make entirely waaaaay too much and waste almost every penny.

Think it's about time I give my girl her walking papers. I've had about enough of her shenanigans.. Stupid stoopid bowl

Seattle winning only confirmed my suspicions. It's all fixed. Somebody made a huge amount of money yesterday.
