How about ordinary pie charts, where the maximum posts per chart are, let's say 100, and the 100s are indicated by changing colours of the chart according to karate grading system - or any other grading system.

I did consider the karate style belt grading, but feel it doesn't represent growth, healing, learning and accomplishment. Let alone other words that could be used to describe progress stages adequately.

Maybe pieces of a puzzle

A globe with little men icons holding hands (the globe being the starting point, then the first icon, the next, etc.). Could be a way of showing the reaching out to one another internationally on the forum (and the globe is part of the "corporate design" of the forum).

A globe with hands reaching out and holding to hands. Same concept as above but with hands reaching out. Sorry, I have a hard time explaining this in English. You could google "connectedness" to see what I mean.

I guess for the globe ideas the stats should be based on posts rather than likes or credits.

A lighthouse, that is black and white at first and that has color added to it, the final step being it shining light.

I really like the tree idea. Starting with a branch with a leaf, representing the strength of coming to the site and posting. Adding leaves until that branch is full, then putting the base of the tree, etc, until you get a number of branches with leaves, then bigger, as it grows in height the roots begin to grow as well, until it's a full grown, beautiful tree.

Just a thought. Although, that globe with hands sounds good as well. But my question is, what color would you use for the hands, after all we do represent all nationalities? I think you would run out of room for the hands.

safenow, I'd use a uni color for the hands, e.g. black, and would take as many as needed for reaching one time around the globe. If e.g. 8 hands weren't enough, they could get a different color the second time round, but I think one time round should be enough.

I think whatever it will be it can neither be too big nor too detailed because it will be fairly small.

That's a good idea. And I agree, it is going to have to be small. It will be fun to see what Anthony finally comes up with.

For me, a tree always represented family. The ones I drew growing up never had any roots, just lots of broken branches. But that was when I was younger.

Being a genealogist, I love the tree idea too! I have learned the repeated patterns from my family have been carried through many generations.

Being a realist I am guessing the size of the image would be about the size of an emoticon. Branches etc. won't show up. Even if it is the size of a premium member bar it is limiting.
