General Supporter looking for support

He is in treatment. He sees a psychologist who specializes in PTSD in first responders, and our family doctor is overseeing his medication. The psychiatrist he had was terrible. We live in a small town, so there are no choices here. He got the only psychiatrist available when he was in the hospital after his suicide attempt. The guy said there was "no such thing as PTSD" and "no treatment for it". So, we looked elsewhere for help. It took a couple months, but we found a good treatment team for him.

It's good that he is getting treatment... and it's good that you're getting treatment too.

I'd be furious too... about lying/hiding/sneaking, about him exposing your daughter to his suicide attempt, about all of it. Of course, then the guilt comes with the anger. He is ill and traumatized. It's hard to be mad at somebody when they have a mental illness.... BUT, why it may be a reason, it's no excuse to act like that when he has a family, especially children.

Vent away.

Have you researched PTSD much yourself? I found it pretty comforting in an odd way. It helped me to make some sense of things.
