Terminal Illness And Acceptance

pot doesn't need to be liquid in order to be vaped.

@joeylittle

The thing is, with oil a $20-$30 vape pen can be used and with the herb they recommend investing $350 or more for a good machine., which is too much for my budget. Cannabis oil containing the whole plant has proven to be best for COPD, I am not sure about what is recommended for PTSD.......yet.

Cost will not be as big a problem in states where a person/patient is allowed to grow their own.

Anyway, I did once hear about a vape pen that could vape the dry herb and perhaps I could look into that.

I may be wrong on this, so don't hold me to it, I am still learning. thanks.

@Lionheart777 @joeylittle Dumb question..... I used to smoke pot, but had to quit because it made me so parinoid that it just took all the fun out of it. So my question is... would vaping still cause you to get high? I'm interested in the approach of weed helping with the COPD, but not if I'm gong to become parinoid/anxious. I couldn't handle that. Massachusetts passed the law that its legal in our state, so not an issue.

I'm just so frustrated with the meds they give you for COPD. I'm extremely sensitive to steroids now, and they cause me to have wicked anxiety. I don't care how they are introduced into my body, injection, eye drops, inhaled or pill form, my anxiety skyrockets. To be honest, I'd rather struggle to breath, than have anxiety. Well, maybe not, but that's how I feel at the moment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. Vaping actually intensifies the hit, so you use less product.

What you are looking for is isolated CBD, which is basically pot without the thing that makes it psychogenic (which is THC). It's possible to purchase CBD legally even now, because it doesn't create a 'high' at all - though it's rather unregulated, like anything considered to be a supplement, so the FDA makes no promises and tracks no safety on sourcing or anything.

The truly accurate, consistent lab-created CBD is coming, soon. Watson Pharmaceuticals (I believe) started going through the FDA process a while ago. They're a UK based research company, and pretty much all they do is work on isolating in organic form the desirable components of marijuana. These are basically the real thing, instead of the slightly different synthetics that work to varying degrees. CBD is much sought after, for all sorts of ailments. No high, all pain relief.

I don't know anything about who sells good CBD oil, or even how to tell if they are reputable.

Someone once asked, if weed was legal would ya still get paranoid? lol it is a legit question and one I don't know the answer to but as for cannabis causing or heightening anxiety, I think it really depends on the strain used. As I mentioned earlier the strain called "Girl Scout Cookies" is supposed to be good for PTSD as is another strain called "God's Gift", but I am still learning and cannot make any guarantees that it would not make you anxious. I am not sure what strains are good for COPD but you would want something that works for both conditions.

The best bet , I believe, would be to talk to the experts at a dispensary. That way you know what you are getting and you can discuss your fear of increased anxiety with them.

From what I understand the best cannabis medication for COPD is the Whole Plant Oil, which contains all of the cannabinoids such as THC/CBD/CGB etc. it would get ya high, but you could always opt for CBD oil if you preferred it instead.

I hope this helps but as I said I am still learning myself.

Side note: wanna hear my favorite stoner Joke?

@joeylittle I have a customer that now uses the oil. She puts drops on her tongue. She has severe back issues and neuropathy from an antibiotic she had to take for pneumonia.... She pays $300 for a bottle that last only 3 weeks. They have $$ so she can afford it. I don't, so I couldn't!

I will ask around to see what I can come up with. Thank you for responding....

If you are allowed to grow it you could make your own oil on the cheap or buy the herb and make it yourself. That is always a possibility methinks. Just saying.

just found this:

"PTSD patients are advised to first consult a medical professional before treating symptoms with cannabis. Consumers unaccustomed to marijuana may find that THC aggravates anxiety symptoms. Cannabidiol, better known as CBD, is a marijuana cannabinoid that counteracts some of THC’s effects, including paranoia and anxiety. Further research examining the relationship between THC and CBD could lead to more tolerable variants of cannabis pharmaceuticals for high anxiety individuals."

Thanks @Lionheart777 I smoked weed from age 15 into my mid 30's. Somewhere around the age of 33-35 the anxiety was getting really bad, then when I hit 36 the parinoia hit every time I smoked weed. I made the decision to just stop. Up until then, it helped a great deal with the anxiety. I remember my mother catching me smoking once when I was 15 and she asked why I was doing this. I remember like it was yesterday, I looked at her and said, "Because I can't cope with reality." She didn't know of the sexual abuse my lovely brothers were bestowing on me at the time. When I told her finally, she wasn't impressed to say the least.

So thats part of why I smoked weed, the other part was it was fun!!! No so much now though. But thanks for all your help!!! I have faith in you that you will kick the cigs soon.
