What's In a Cigarette?

I so get what you're saying about smoking and smoking every 10-15 minutes. At one point for me, I was going through 2 cartons a week. Chain smoking and the cost(back then) was killing me. I can't imagine how anyone smokes with the cost so high. In Mass, a pack of Marlboro cost over $10, generics cost around $5-6 a pack. I used to drive to VT back then to buy mine as they were cheaper in Vt than in Mass. still a bit cheaper, but not by much. My sister buys generic and it cost her about $65 a carton. Unbelievable that people pay that much!!!!

I think when you speak of getting anxious, so you smoke.... Actually what your feeling isn't being anxious, it's actually a withdrawal symptom. People don't realize that withdrawal comes really fast after you've had a cig. I used to smoke for all the reasons you spoke of too. Even driving was one for me, I get in my car, and HAVE to light one. To this day, I sometimes reach into my pocketbook looking for a cig!!!!! DUH!!!!!

Wellbutrin might help you to quit also, it hits the pleasure center of the brain and reduces the urge. I wouldn't suggest Chantix because it can cause suicide tendency and extremely vivid dreaming. Something people with PTSD don't need more of....

The other thing... Don't know if you are aware that raising the head of your bed about 6 inches, with bricks or whatever, is helpful for sleeping with COPD. And eating smaller meals throughout the day instead of 3 big meals with help too. When you're full from a big meal, the stomachs puts pressure on the lungs making it more difficult to breath, so smaller meals help with that.

Getting more used to the vape pen however I do think I'd have better luck with a tobacco flavored juice. Such as the Turkish blend that was mentioned previously in the thread.

:happy::happy:Wellbutrin, my old happy medicine....when I was on a strong dose of that years ago, I used to get up and sing before breakfast.....I will request that I be placed back on it. :):singing::giggle:

I smoke filtered cigars which are much cheaper than regular cigarettes; (probably worse for me too) @ about $1.58 per pack or 16 bucks per carton. That is still about $64 per month and I could use that money for other things that I need. The cigs my sister smokes are 38 bucks per carton. :(

As for Chantix, I tried it and had the worst nightmare of my entire life and immediately stopped taking it...I was so disturbed by the nightmare that I refused to tell anyone about the content of it, just to speak of it scares me, it seemed so very real. :wideeyed::ninja::stop:

I had the head of my bed raised for GERD and COPD but did not know about eating smaller meals. Fortunately, I eat small meals for diabetes already so I will continue that practice.

Why do doctors not put nicotine addicts thru rehab like any other drug addict? I think they should. To me it is like needing a license to drive a car but not to raise a child....it just doesn't make sense to me.

The last time I quit smoking for any great length of time was 1982 when a lady I was dating said that kissing me was like licking an ashtray.:sour::wtf:

Still, I believe that I will quit, just not sure what it's gonna take this time to get me there.....I feel like I am racing against the clock.

I too am coughing more with very few cigarettes. Don't think its from e-cig and its a tickle like. I forgot that when I quit before I coughed more for awhile. It the cilla or something like( hair like things) that coming back on the throat that causes a tickle. Cough drops help.

Thanks She Cat-I knew it was something like that. My e-cigs came in mail today...Yeah
I have only smoked a couple packs a week for past 2 weeks but now is time to do the real switch since I got my e cigs
