Oh, I hate doctors who think they know it all. I like the ones who are open to things. I hope you find a great doctor. This is a very tricky thing to try and figure out on your own.

Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you....I'm singing even if it is the next day. Sorry, I spent the day in bed yesterday so I missed your birthday! I wish for you happiness and good health...may you find it this year!

Happy, happy birthday Solara! I hope your day brings you joy, fun and relaxation - that at the end of the day you'll go to bed with a grin on your face, and ready to begin a new year with more wisdom and strength the next morning!

I'm so glad you started this thread . . . although I've a couple of high sugar meals here and there the last week, overall I've been able to increase having fresh fruit and veggies and stay more away from the white stuff (bread, potatoes, pasta). I've lost two pounds :tup:

@DMerish

YaY! Congrats in eating better and losing weight!

Tonight is my b-day dinner, so tomorrow I get back on track. Well, I am going to eat well tonight, or at least try to, but we all know that can be difficult at a restaurant!

Last night I ordered from the Macaroni Grill as they have gluten free pasta. They messed up and put pepper in it (which I could pick out), and I'm not convinced they used gluten free pasta. Today I'm having that "wheat-bloat" feeling. Grrr. Well at least I get another one for free (I ordered take out and didn't realize the mistake until I got home.)

I'm not convinced they used gluten free pasta.

Restaurants make all kinds of mistakes, cover them up and don't tell you . . . I wouldn't trust MGrill for GF :cautious:. They used to be one of my fav spots - love, love, loved their Chicken Marsala! Then I found out it had +1,000 calories.

Anyhoo, sometimes you have to take the "bad" with the "good" then move on . . . After posting yesterday, and patting myself on the back :banghead: I ate a taco salad. You know, the kind made with a deep fried flour tortillia and sour cream and guacamole :oops: :hungover: :inpain: My evening was not fun :( and I looked like I was preggers!

I see I'm not the only one who gets so bloated they look pregnant. I even did this when I was skinny as a rail and my friend said I looked like I was 5-6 months pregnant. Not a comfortable feeling. I know there are some foods that don't react well with me, I try not to eat them. Or, I eat them in moderation.

We have too many sweets around the house lately. My son wanted sugar cookies so my spouse made them. I'm doing okay with this. I mean I'm not wolfing anything down, but, at my weight, even one is too much! Plus I'm sure this is not good for my body with all the sugar.

My Dad's Lentil Soup Recipe (high in fiber, tastes great too).

1 48 oz. (3 lb.) box of chicken broth (dad used a Daisy ham or Polish
Sausage instead so if you do that, 48 oz. of water, but it does not
have to be exact!)

1/2 bag of dry lentils

2 carrots sliced

1 stalk celery

1 medium onion

1 large or 2 smaller bay leaves

Put the broth or water in a large soup pot. (Add the Daisy Ham to the
water if you are planning to use that). Put it on high and add the
lentils and bay leaves. Cut up the onion and fry it to golden brown.
Place it in the pot with the water and lentils. Slice the celery and
carrots, and add them. Add the bay leaves. Boil for half an hour. (Add
the Polish Sausage at this point if you are using that instead;
boiling it for half an hour would weaken its flavor)! Let simmer on
medium heat for two hours.

I do all this with a crock pot, but when dad taught me this, they had
not been invented yet! Can you believe? (I was in high school then and
will be 60 next September).

Fasting only lasted until 2 p.m.. My therapist and I discussed how I know intellectually this wasn't a good thing and what was laying behind the motive to do so.
