The Hunger Games Trilogy

The movie really missed nearly all the detail about what Katniss was thinking, the entire strategy between her, Hamish and Peter on entering the games and so on.

I hope they either fill that in within the next movie... I think missing it will lose so much from the movies potential.

It was ok, but having read the book it filled in so much that was missing from the movie.

OK - I couldn't stand it - started reading Hunger Games last night, but forced myself not to stay up all night.

I like to read a book before seeing the movie anyway. I guess I'll have to multi-task with Mao and all the other books I'm trying to read right now.

I think I need to take a vacation from work just to read - that would be awesome! (For me, not my organization) :p

I finished reading the trilogy. I did enjoy it, but there were also places where I just had to stop and leave it for a day or two. It was that intense. My Beloved had to stop reading in book 3, she just became too triggered. I told her what the ending was, in a way that she didn't get triggered. She was glad I did, it was what she was hoping for. Now I have the movie too. I will watch it very soon. As soon as I get my breath back... ;)

Started book one Sunday night and finished last night. Did anyone else hear the sound of me getting sucked into part 3? I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I even contemplated starting book two at 2 am this morning.

Loved the games and how Rue and Katniss outsmarted the Careers by blowing up their stash. Sad that Rue died as a result. I thought it was awesome how Katniss took the moment to honor Rue as a person instead of as a "kill" like many of the other tributes did. I am really sad for Peeta that Katniss used his affection for her as a weapon to win. I get why she did, but it never feels good to get used like that.

Looking forward to book two tonight!!

I started book 2 on Sunday. I've now finished both the second and third books. It is so difficult to describe how I felt when I put the final book down after completing it.

I was almost glad it was over, which I rarely feel when I'm finished with a good book. It was almost as if I felt her pain and torment throughout the entire series and was glad when there would be no more to feel. I imagine those are the types of things that make an excellent book, but I am still reeling.

I finished the first book and am halfway through the 2nd book. It is not like I thought it would be. I am sad that they had them in another game. These are very intense books. I have never read anything like them before. I want to read the books before I see the movies. Mabe I will wait until all 3 are made and buy them to watch at home.

Very intense books.Very different. It is interesting to read them and to post here about it. I think I like it.

I got really badly triggered by the concept of children killing each other, and the whole concept that adults would get amusement out of controlling others, and inflicting violence on children.

But I put the book down for a while and was able to come back to it, and throughly enjoyed it, although the concept itself turned my stomach. I'm certainly looking forward to commencing books 2 and 3.

It was great to be able to take my mind of my own crappy life, and to read a book from start to finish and actually comprehend it all, one of the first things that was affected by PTSD was reading. It's great to be reading again, I'm looking forward to more.

I was disgusted at the movies last week, when someone overheard a conversation I was having with my 11 year son, that I felt it was too violent a movie for a child of his age. That women felt the need to point out that the movie wasn't too violent, and they had taken their 10 year old to see it. Even if there isn't alot of gore, surely the concept alone isn't suitable ?

I know when it's released on DVD some other parent will allow my child to watch it, but I am not being responsible for exposing my child to it.

I have had the first book of the Hunger Games series for about 3 weeks. After reading all of the posts I am going to plunge in & read them. I hope they are half as good as the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. After reading them I went several months trying to find a good book to read :( & was very unsuccessful!

It's going to sound like a nitpick, but the first book drove me nuts. The sentence structures and dialogue grated on me too much. "He said." "She said." "He says." "She says." I mean, has this person never heard of such interactions as "they replied," and "she finished speaking, a look of concern on her face." I don't expect the Iliad, but for some reason I could not stand the way the story was written.

I feel like such a bad book reader.
