I wasn't sure which category to post this in, since it does have to do with therapy but it's not all serious. Anyway I just thought I'd share an interesting story, somewhat of a laugh. Today in therapy I was talking to my therapist about my anorexia. He asked about my typical diet (no sweets or treats whatsoever). We were also talking about what makes me feel good or comfortable (songs, fuzzy socks, and chocolate for me :) ).

So then he was talking about how my brain was lacking serotonin, which could also cause some of my sleep problems, due to my condition as well as poor diet. He said that chocolate, a comfort of mine that I don't indulge in, could help release serotonin to help me sleep and feel better emotionally while at the same time helping me stop losing more weight Therefore as part of my therapy and recovery process he has prescribed me to consume chocolate as well as striving to reach a goal of at least 1300 calories a day. I found this funny and interesting at the same time :) I don't need all the fiery comments or scientific posts about how serotonin this or that. Just posting :)

Sounds like a great therapist ;)

I'm also glad to hear that he can motivate you to build up to a healthier diet. Being an anorexia survivor myself, I know how hard it is to find and especially to hold on to the motivation to get better. I wish you the best of luck and all the strength you need to get better!

P.S.: if you ever feel the need to talk, about struggling with your e.d. or anything else, please feel free to send me a message.

@Solara I gave up worry for lent, I'll let you know how that one turns out! Chocolate on the other hand - well when I go to see the pysch in a week or so, I'm going to tell him that chocolate is the only thing keeping me even remotely sane at the moment. Another fun chocolate-brain chemical related fact, eating chocolate or even only thinking about eating chocolate causes your brain to release dopamine - though personally I find the eating part much more effective!

I agree with Alby, I heard that chocolate was good for you. You inspired me to go out and buy a box of Sees candy the next time I go out. Great post. I hope it works for you. Smart therapist. Hugs.

@Nadia One time I went to the melting pot and we had smores flavor fondue with marshmallow fluff and chocolate and graham cracker crumbs! :)

@gizmo Hugs! You should definitely get those chocolates! :) It really does make me feel a whole lot better. Unfortunately I only reached 400 calories by dinner yesterday so I literally had my hand in a bag of milk chocolate chips the rest of the night trying to catch up my calories. :p
