News Transcendental Meditation Can Help Ease Ptsd Symptoms: Study

A new American study supports previous research showing that Transcendental Meditation can help ease and even eliminate some of the most debilitating symptoms of anxiety disorders such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

After one month of practice, 83.7 per cent of meditators were able to stabilize, reduce or even stop their psychotropic medication.

Previous research showed the positive effects of meditation on Vietnam veterans, who were able to reduce their PTSD symptoms with no medication. However, this new study was carried out with active-duty personnel from the American army, many of whom had been deployed several times over several years.

I've looked in yo TM and the deeper you look the scarier it gets no joke. I'll look for the web site again and get back. But seriously it's kinda culty and weird, expensive and scary.Apparently people who were having bad effects from the practice have been silenced and thretend to keep their mouths shut. I'll have a look for the link.

Isn't anything cultish if you allow that to become your life? I think there is a difference between performing meditation in your own environment versus joining some cult to practice it.
 
I agree. I meditate and find it extremely helpful but transcendental meditation is a different kettle of fish. I just thought for those who have been looking into it like I was would like to know the other side of the story.

In order to practice "proper" TM you have to go to a specially trained teacher that costs a fortune. They are extremely secretive about the practice (that to me sends alarm bells ringing) which means you need to go to the expensive teacher to learn how.

Yes absolutely a meditation practice can be benificial but TM is somthing I would encourage someone to research before getting involved with.
