I’ve always had a plan whenever I enter any kind of waiting room. Focus on the receptionist and then find a chair and pull out my book immediately. Otherwise I start to overload and feel like I’m about to go down. Today that really went off the rails. I turned away from the front desk and before I’ve even walked 5 ft a guy steps up in front of me and starts talking. And not from a couple of ft away but right in my space. I’m trying to be polite and leave but now my anxiety is through the roof and I can’t think straight. So I stood there for god knows how long and suffered until they called my name.
So now the rest of my day is toast because I’m exhausted. Has anyone else had this happen to them and what did you do?
Or what could I have done better?
Thanks

My best practice -when I’m already running hot- is to go blow off some steam / bleed some stress outta the system before I have to go do shit that is going to test my self control. One example of type? Gym & a hot shower / cold beer. Just gives me a lot more wiggle room to dealing with whatever’s up next. It’s not perfect, but it helps.

That's happened to me a couple of times. People like that are one brick shy of a load. Talk about needing to unwind! Lol! Maybe they really do and don't have anyone.
