Update On School And The Service Dog

School is still pretty tough for me. Still struggling to pay attention in class and falling asleep in class due to exhaustion. I have missed some of my early 8am classes from not being able to wake up. It feels like I am a zombie going through everyday and not really being involved with anything around me.

The service dog class has been a lot of fun and hard as well. I have learned so much about these amazing animals and the amount of work that goes into training them. My lab partner is a golden retriever and we have bonded really well however, she struggles to pay attention. So I do not think we will get matched together after the course. I really can't wait to see who I get paired with and think that once I find my partner for everyday life I'll be more involved with my life. I feel more awake when working with my dog and a little bit lively. She has been fun and frustrating to work with but I love it! I think if she paid attention more and was a little older she would do fine. Right now she's to much of a puppy for my cat and I.

I am also very thankful for my cat last night. She woke me up when the building fire alarm went off at 2am last night.I didn't hear it and it scared her luckily it was just a prank by some kid but I should not have been sleeping through 10 minutes of that and proves my need for a dog to help me wake up and get out of bed when I need to.

I know I'm near the finish line with school but just want to be done so badly. I can't give up at this point but want to sometimes. I met with a career services employee at the school and they told me to just focus on school for now. They will be helping me with resumes and interviews. She also will be looking into PTSD safe jobs for me and my future dog. That helps take the pressure off a little bit.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I've been out of it with meds, school , work, and training. And the time that I do have free I'm too tired to do anything other than sleep or netflix. Haven't even been playing my games lately.

My husband is going to school now and also has a service dog for his PTSD. She's s golden as well. School will easily burn you out so don't be too hard on yourself if you miss an 8 am class.

My husband hasn't been to training with his dog in over 2 months because he's been so stressed with school lately and has started to shut down.

I wish you the best of luck finding the perfect match with your service dog and wish you continued success with the rest of the semester!
