As a teacher, there’s nothing I love more than hearing from former students. I remember them all. I imagine it’s similar for T’s. One T I had for 2 years I left as soon as I discovered I was pregnant, because I needed to save for maternity leave. I didn’t talk to her at all ahead of time; just had one session in which I said I was done. And that was it. Then I mailed her a card and a pic of my 6 week old. But she never responded. I had zero attachment to her. Therapy was a chore. And it still sort of bummed me out to have no response.

About every few years, I send my first T updates... she is always glad to hear from me, very pleased with my progress and I always let her know how important she was to helping me build my healing foundation..... was thinking of her the other day... thanks for the reminder.

Well, I quit my T in June after 5 years and it was tough on me. She suggested that we stay in touch and send each other silly things on a whim, but now I know it was her reaction to my abrupt departure as she never has sent anything. I also think an email relationship is too difficult for me. I think her writing back would kind of rip the scab off each time and I'd need to redistance myself..
