I didn't see any mention of socialism in there. You don't need to be a socialist to engage with others,...

You miss my point. I never said that the article mentioned socialism. Here in America ANYTHING that is about anything other than "I, I, I" or "me, me, me" can and will be construed as socialism. Caring about others? Socialism! We not I? Socialism! Really, it IS that bad.

We went from hating commies to hating socialism and being in bed with a former communist nation. Go figure!

And now there is far too much to respond to. I will begin here:
The veggies can't protest, so I thought I'd speak up for them. lol
HAhaha. Needed that, although I did initially think you were empathizing with my veggie free week ;)

@Deadman thanks for what you've written and I will listen to your link after work today. It is true that I've become isolated in my views largely due to where I live, this is definitely something to consider deeply.

A cause can actually lose support when it disrupts too much. It can also gain a lot of support when it's peaceful.

Thank you for this reminder, it is helpful and interesting to learn of farmer's market rights! I do understand both the first amendment and the definition of Marxism and remain hard pressed to associate hate speech and provocative, in my opinion it was a provocation--those arrested were from as far away as Montana, rallies with either. I'm not referring to protests in general, but this one specifically. At this point what the constitution "allows" is becoming terrifying. Also, the women's march was FOR many things and not solely against Trump.

@Tornadic Thoughts Beautiful post and am eager to listen to what inspired it.

I will leave it at that, because I could go into what I really think, but getting thread banned isn't something I'm up for...
I can relate.

I think Americans, period, need to let go of the old Russian hate still lingering around today. Knowing what people know now about misinformation, the BS Governments tell, do you really think Russia is a threat to any country today? China is a communist country, yet because the history isn't there, China owns a whole shit load of America. China (communists) has purchased its way into America. Same thing, different country.

Neither Russia or America is going to launch nukes, because they are no longer a feasible option -- nobody wins. In WWII they packed a punch without the fallout issue. It solved a World War. Now, one renders the space dead for thousands of years, then a whole lot surrounding that space.

Russia is not the bad guy any more IMHO. Russia are nothing more than a struggling ice block in the arse end of the world who nobody really cares about. The problem is that when you keep beating a horse, the horse may retaliate. You said the horse was unpredictable, yet is the horse? Or is it only due to when being beaten repeatedly?

I think some of the American political issue, needs to start letting go of Russia from the old days, move on. Russia is not an enemy any longer. They're just a nothing, struggling, country, who need a little help and direction to become economical in the global world we live.

America / Americans, could prosper from the economical aspects available in Russia. You thought China had cheap labour? Russia can offer the same thing, without having to have a Chinese 60% owner within the business (how China works).

@anthony I'm not sure about your country and its voting/elections. But, here in the states were pretty pissed off because Russia" hacked " into our voting, in, I believe 24 states. Ummmmmm. That's something I don't think we can just let go, or ignore. Russia isn't one of our friends, and in fact one of our adversaries!

Right, but the cold war has been over for what, 26 years?
What has happened in that time span to strengthen Russo/American ties? Not much. How much beneficial commerce?

It seems like the last attempt to reach out for better relations between the two countries was Glasnost.
The iron curtain might have fallen, but nobody bothered to cross it.

@Deadman just listened to the talk. And yes, thank you, I enjoyed it as well and see the relevance. My initial knee jerk reaction was along the lines of "EVERYthing I do is for the future us/we!" (I am a teacher, I am a committed volunteer environmental/conservationist). And yet I feel a deeper loathing (and fear of and for) toward this world than I ever have before. Sigh.

I read the original article on this, and it does not say what you're saying. What you're writing, is all media speculation. The original piece even states not to look too much into it. The original "leaked document" can't be completely verified as authentic with the underlying claimed mechanisms.

Top-Secret NSA Report Details Russian Hacking Effort Days Before 2016 Election

This is media speculation, not evidenced fact. He said, she said, typical stuff.

Again though... who really cares? Every country is trying, or succeeding, with hacks into other countries, all for different reasons. I remember the original NSA leaked documents, USA was hacking just about every countries intelligence to some degree. Pot, this is kettle, over! You're standing in one of the worst countries for cyber hacking other Governments, claiming to have an issue with Russia for doing the same thing.

Again -- pot, this is kettle, over!

Patriotism has limits -- everything beyond it is hatred, distrust, self-justifying bad choices as though worthy decisions.
