Yes, thank God, most are rejecting his speech. I think we need to support the departments that have been vocal about this. Find their FB or webpages and give them an attaboy. We are lucky to have a really great police chief in a town a few miles from us. He posts really helpful articles as well as a daily dose of humor. You can just tell he's of the community relations-law enforcement mind, not the Trumpist sick variety.

Trump is also threatening to stop payments on some of the payments for the insurance program which could ultimately finish Obama care off. He's just going to make sure that Obama care DOES fail, even faster than it would. I honestly don't understand why he refuses to work with the entire senate to get things done. I know, the dems didn't work with the republicans to get Obama care passed. I just think that it's time the fighting stopped and government remembers that it's about the people, not the party. This is just getting crazy now!!!!

Exactly. I'm not sure what it's going to take to get that message across. There are some people in congress who get that, but a bunch (on both sides) who apparently don't.

Refusing to spend the money is something I worry about. Apparently it's something he can do and it would bring that part of the system to a screeching halt. (Which wouldn't be good for anyone, near as I can tell.)

Obamacare is already failing without Trump doing anything. 4 counties currently have no private Obamacare insurance options in 2017, and it's expected to grow to 47 and rising (and the number rises every few days) in 2018. Nothing to subsidize in those counties. The system is already doing to itself what Trump is threatening to expedite.

For the First Time, 45 Counties Could Have No Insurer in the Obamacare Marketplaces. That means people who have insurance now will lose it next year, even with the payments continuing. I have a friend who has Cigna right now through an employer and they've already notified her Cigna is pulling out and there will be no other options in her area.Think about being a doctor wanting to open a new clinic in one of those counties.

Cutting the payments without formally ending Obamacare is a terrible idea. At the same time, Trump sustaining the payments won't save it either.

But here's the thing. Trump will blast the GOP in congress and the media - and there are only two things less popular than him: congress and the media. He is so good at divide and conquer, that it's possible he'll become more popular.

This business about insurance companies picking and choosing counties is one of the issues that should have been addressed. Something interesting I noticed on the maps in the article @Justmehere cited is that the counties with one, or no, carrier change. Not just in one direction. I looked at MN, as an example, but it applies to other states. There are counties that had only one insurance provider in earlier maps that later on appear to have gained providers. That's kind of interesting and I can't help but wonder what happened there.

Here's a link to another article on whether or not the ACA is doomed. http://money.cnn.com/2017/07/18/news/economy/obamacare-trump-fail/index.html

A question that's occurred to me is to wonder what the insurance companies mean when they say they are "losing money". Do they mean they are spending more than they take in, or do they mean that their profits are down? I really don't know. And I can't say as I've seen any actual data.
