Weaning Off Anti-depressants And Anti Anxiety Medications. How To Deal With Arising Feelings?

I weaned off the medication about mid April under medical supervision. So I was weaning off for a couple of months. Then I was off medication for 2-3 months.

I started back on it on July 16th - it was a long time - well it felt to me a long time to get it sorted. First I went back on the Luvox and it made me worse and then back on the Endep.

The medication has now kicked in. I felt it a bit last week. But now I am actually getting some decent sleep. I have had two nights of good sleep.

It has been a really hard slog and quite educational.

It almost was the end of me. I had a very rugged time.

But still worth it to see what was under the medication.

As you get some relief, perhaps you and your therapist could draw some conclusions about your experiences and how you were coping without the med. Chalk it up to experience, learn and grow.

I am getting some relief now.

I will certainly explore what I learnt, that is for sure.

There is a lot to deal with that is for sure.

I was on a medication Zyprexia to take away to side effects of the main medication, Endep but got the serious side effects from Zyprexia. (I don't meet the criteria for Z but had it as a one off thing) I thought it was just anxiety thankfully I saw the side effects page, read it and then rang my psychiatrist and she said to cut down to half a tablet immediately. And I will be off it by next week. Had the tongue movements over and over again. That was the one she was worried about.

Beverly23, the 21 Day challenge was from Shawn Achor's Ted Talk, The Happiness Advantage who in the last few minutes of his video outlined 5 things to be done for 21 days to rewire your brain from scanning the world for negative or neutral to the more positive. We did the challenge in a group a couple times on the forum in a Private Conversation. It was generally assistive to most all of those who participated with a very good completion rate.

Here's the link to the public portion of the challenge thread: https://www.myptsd.com/threads/open...vantage-starting-april-1st.32299/#post-531647

It does not have anything to do with Medication withdrawal... it though was assistive in turning our thoughts away from the anxiety/uncomfortability and practicing turning it toward something beneficial.

Off topic, but I did find it for you.

I weaned off my anti anxiety medication late last year and I lost the weight I put on with that. I feel...
Hi there, I hear you & was pretty much in the same boat as you. Have you done any reading on GABA for anxiety & L-5-HTP ? I did a review on my diet and started taking these 2 supplements that are 100% naturally. To my amazement, it worked for me in a short period of time. Mind you, I don't have a sleeping disorder. Keep reseaching & best wishes for the New Year!
