Web Filtering?

Recently I have found a lot of articles in the news and things people post online have been triggering me. Ever since the Steubenville case, now all the major news outlets are talking about it and other related cases. Although I really want to be an active member of the fight against rape culture- the effects are beginning to wear on me. I've had an increase in my nightmares and paranoia, and distrust in general. It's getting very out of hand. So I unliked all the news sites I subscribed to on FB and hid all updates from people I know who are likely to post about it.

I was wondering, if there a web filter I can install that will block webpages or articles that contain certain trigger words?

I've heard of the baby filter for Facebook (hilarious, by the way); however I don't know of any news filters for the web in general. I'd like to know if there are any. I know you can outright block certain web pages (for parents who only want their kids on certain sites), but I don't know if it filters ads or searches.

You can try Web Of Trust. It is not a perfect match for your needs, but if you play around with the settings it may help...It is mostly for making sure a website is trustworthy but it has a few other settings.

You could try fiddling with the "parental" controls on your browser, but I honestly have never used them and don't know how well they work. I think there's also a way to block certain sites, like [DLMURL]http://www.fox.com...as[/DLMURL] an example.

Try a google search for something like
Code:
"web content blocking"
or
Code:
"web content" + blocking

I know how you feel. I live in South Africa and we recently had a terrible rape/murder case that has everyone banding together in some misguided attempt to support trauma survivors. What they've actually achieved is the alienation of trauma survivors--everywhere you go there are billboards, newspaper titles and events in the 'fight against rape.' It's all just triggering and where I used to be able to safely go to any event I chose, these days I find myself having to stay at home because they are structuring their events around violence. There are a few applications that are targeted at filtering out sites and posts that you find annoying according to keywords that you create yourself. Social fixer and ZyWall are examples, but I've not used them myself so I advise you google reviews before you install.

I believe that the parental control feature will allow words and companies to be typed in. Sites that use the words will be blocked and sometimes you will get a popup stating why.
