I have gained so much this last year, I think because of meds and stress. I eat healthy most of the time, but my consumption of sugary drinks is a problem.

Fadeaway,

Years ago I had a real sweet taste for drinks like that, but now only drink soda water with fresh lemon juice and ice, it will be hard to change, as soft drink is one of the most addictive things their is but it is very nice and refreshing, don't buy the flavoured soda water as it's full of hidden sugar, give it a try and let us know what you think of it.

Well I jumped on the scales today and have put on another kilo (2.2lb). There is something really wrong I haven't been doing anything different and that's like three kilos in three or four days rang my psych nurse and she wants to see me for blood tests and stuff tuesday and look at changing meds, now that's freaking me out, I don't think you can beat this I really don't, I'm sorry everyone having a meltdown not over the weight just over who I am now. I don't want to be this person anymore.

@Sammyiam You are not your body only, you are your personality, your contributions to society and oh so much more!

One of the main reasons we can weigh more without eating too much is to eat salty food which make the body retain fluids. Water weighs LOTS! DO the tests, ask how your blood sodium level is, also your potassium level. Ask if the Dr. has any recommendations for you, or c an change any of your meds which might be causing this trouble. DON'T GIVE UP! And by the way, just because you are our fearless leader, does not mean you are not entitled to a melt-down! Certainly you are entitled to one. Just keep at this and do what your Dr. recommends, you will be OK, things will go better!

My diet is based on about 500 calories a day,

I am happy for you, but I have a great concern on the proper nutrition being able to be accomplished within that set of calories with or without exercise. Should you have time, this is a great link for dispelling some recent US blunders on diets and encouraging some additional nutritional considerations. Let me know what you think please, as this is a team effort for a common goal, yes?:)

Well, today is check-in day, Friday.

Last Friday I weighed 169.4 first thing in the morning. Today I weighed 170.8, however, I weighed 168.4 yesterday. Getting a bit personal, I had no bowel movement yesterday nor today, so that may be why I gained, or it could be water weight, or it could be that I ate too much! On Wednesday I ate 1278 calories, but yesterday I ate 1480. I'm already up to 903 calories today and that is too many. I have gotten food donated to me, that is not in the original packaging, but in a inner packet. So I had no calorie count for that packet, which I had with my lunch. This may all boil down to a bunch of excuses, and maybe I simply have been overeating. Only God knows! None the less, all these things definitely do factor in. Sorry if I offended anyone!

@Recovery4Me I was worried about the calorie intake, but I trust my doctor and he didn't seem bothered by it once he heard what I was eating. I have protein twice a day along with a vegetable. I have fruit twice a day. Starting with breakfast. I do not eat or drink any sugar anything. I think it is okay because I do not have an active lifestyle. I think this diet would be very hard to do if I was active. Since I do not workout because I can't, this seems to work for me today. I don't use that many calories. Thank you for your concern and the article which I do have up to read.

On that note I am down 10 lbs from when I started, which means I can buy a pair of shoes that I have wanted for a year. I did. I am elated. It took me a year to finally lose 10lbs. I have this diet to thank!

I am officially prediebetic now. I have to quit smoking and lose the weight I gained from all of the sitting around and comfort eating while taking care of my husband.

My daughter is going to put a tv in front of the treadmill and that should make it easier for me.

I still need to do a research on diet. I have to cut out the cokes which I find so refreshing so have been drinking more water. I am too embarrassed to say how much I now weigh.

@Recovery4Me Sounds interesting. Though I rarely ate meat(until this diet) I didn't lose. But it could be the other stuff I was eating and lack of activity. As it is, this diet has me eating meat every day, small amounts, but still more then I did. I think one that encourages you to eat fresh produce is good. Non fatty meats is a plus. Good luck! :)

@gizmo I'm afraid to put my weight on here too. I can't believe how heavy I've allowed myself to get. I'm just focusing on the pounds I'm losing. Not the number I am at. I have a long way to go otherwise.
