Weekly Social Weight Loss And Exercise Catch Up

I'm only about 3 pounds away from 20 pounds lost. Probably a couple more weeks. Definitely closer then I've been in years. Though, once, I did lose 25 lbs not knowing what I did and gained it quickly back. Hormones. I'm hanging in there. Really need to get more exercise in though this diet doesn't recommend it because of the low calories. Still, some walking should be okay.

It's occurred to me that it will take me longer to lose the weight I need to lose, but I will break it up into sections so that I will not feel so overwhelmed. It's okay. I can do this. I'm finally at a place in my life where I am ready to lose the weight. Emotionally. So many years, too many, I held onto it for comfort. Now I am okay.

I'm down 18lbs. Yippee.

Today I found out my sis in law is in town and they all want to go out to eat. Other then there being nothing I can eat on the menu, I really do not want them to know that I am dieting. They are fitness buffs and it really isn't any of their business. My husband says he is proud of me and wants to share it, but I told him no way. I don't trust them. That is what it boils down to. And this is a sensitive subject for me. We don't get along anyhow. Just superficially. So I will not be going out with them. It's not the first time it won't be the last time. Am I a b****?

Diets don't work. What DOES work is giving a lifestyle change enough time to really show results. Start small and add healthy habits as you feel ready and your body feels appropriately ready. Realistic, long term weight loss is 0.5-1 lbs a week. That's sustainable and a rate that won't freak your body out, but done right shows results way faster than you think :)

If you want a place to start, and of course this is just a general recommendation from a friend:
Try to open as few packages as possible when selecting food throughout the day! The more fresh and natural food you eat the more natural and good fuel your body has access too! Don't start too big though, aim for adjusting one meal or snack every few days, that way it feels natural without a huge impact, and habits can form in a good way!
Try walking 30-45m at a brisk pace (faster than standard pace) 2-4 days a week! This is low impact, easy exercise that can be done anywhere you chose, and to whatever music you like! Walking outdoors has been shown to lead to multitudes off positive health benefits, such as lowered depression, lowered risk of hypertension, increased energy, etc... It's a great place to start!

Hope it helps! Listen to your body!

Sometimes small changes can build new life habits. I often cheat a little to sneak in my work out (when my body cooperates).

For instance, I park a little further than necessary from the grocery store to get in those extra steps or I shop for a bunch of stuff so I have to walk in the grocery store more aisles and even check out new items once in a while to stray from my Superstore routine jet.

I even take the stairs in some places like the mall to get that stair master feel or psych myself up if I forget something upstairs and say,"Cool, extra work out!" I have started to walk in place when standing too long in line to get a couple extra minutes (the other pay off is people may move to the other line sometimes...:clown:). All these tricks help to add those steps and anchor in commitment to an exercise plan.

Insofar as diet, I slowly cut out or down on a few things like butter or gravy (flour and meat fat), white empty carbs (white rice and potatoes) or ketchup (sugar) and I do not hardly ever salt my food anymore. I eat less crackers than I ever want to...lol and allow myself chips maybe once every two or three months. I consciously drink more water (huge benefits) and fight the urge to snack with healthy substitutes. However, sometimes a cookie jumps in my mouth!:ninja:

I do break down and count calories so I can have that dark coco chocolate bar (benefits in dark coco) once a month or make a chocolate & banana smoothie instead. My favorite cheat is Fiber Gummies! However, these are just a few tricks, what are some of yours?

Everything in moderation, food wise. That's what I say. Too many times they say to cut things out only to retract on that. Like salt, turns out we need it, though not as much as Americans tend to think. Fat too. Cutting out carbs seems to be the best way lately for losing weight. I turned to clean eating. Nothing processed. Doesn't mean that someday I won't go back to some of it, just right now, while I am losing, clean eating seems to work. Plus it's good for me. If you do slip, do extra workouts. If I didn't think it imperative that I stay on this diet(and it is definitely a diet), I would allow myself a cheat day. But I weigh myself too much to allow that to happen just yet. Drives me crazy, yet it is working, for me. Sensible eating. Portion control. All important.

I've lost 6 lbs so far. I haven't been swimming in a while. But I have been walking. And also making more thoughtful decisions about what food I eat. I've cut out white bread from my diet completely. It's just empty carbs for me. Unfortunately, my medications are in the process of changing and I'm being put on one notorious for weight gain. I need to start swimming again once my ear infection clears up. And just keep on moving.

I'm not sure exactly where I'm at.. I sometimes weigh less at 3pm than I did at 7am, which makes no sense, but whatever. I think alot of it has to do with water weight, as I drink copious amounts of fluids throughout the day. One gallon of water weighs about 7lbs, and I easily consume that much. But.. identified something that is going to become a serious problem if I continue. Trail mix. That stuff is like crack. I'll buy a bag of it and it's pretty much gone by dinner. A decent sized bag has about 700 calories if you eat the whole thing. And I do. Hell sometimes I'll wake up with hazy memories that I ate a bunch at some point during the night. It's just like eating a candybar or two a day.

Plus the shit ain't cheap neither. If I continue along current projections I could end up blowing $60-120 a month easily. Dammit why has everything got to be so damn expensive nowadays?!! :bawling:

So anyway, going to have to go off the trail mix, except for occasions where it's appropriate, like hiking or boating or shopping (still waaaay less expensive than fast food).

So that's me. :)

I'm down 10kg now... and certainly a healthy weight again, but I want to be really fit body wise, thus another 5kg will come off. Like always... that stupid last few kgs just take ages to get off. I got 10 off in a bit over 2 months... no surprise if it takes me another 2 months just to get rid of the 5 I want to lose, just to be skinny skinny fit.

Stupid weight...
