Welcome Lily - Our New Puppy

@Sighs, I can actually choose how I sleep, being deep or light. It's a military thing... basically when I had to sleep light, close my eyes but keep listening, I learnt to in time. Then when home and I could relax, I didn't have to keep an ear out and crashed deeply, hearing nothing until I wake.

Until she started sleeping through the night, I switched to light sleep. The last couple of days I've switched back, as she pretty much sleeps through the night now, thus I don't need to settle her typically.

Oh... and Lily just got her first hair cut today. We clipped her this morning... pretty good job overall. Took an hour and lots of treats, but she looks good still. Took maybe four weeks growth off of her. Now we can get in an 8 week cycle or so.

Lily is soooo lovely! Even my best friend, who is totally into cats, is excited over your cute puppy. :D ...the video when she tries to steal the mop from you was sooo funny. And when she was in one of her moods...she reminded me more of a cat with all the jumping on @anthony. :whistling:

Was Lily fine with getting washed? My dog always took some nasty revenge afterwards because she hated it. :rolleyes: But she was allergic so we had to wash her regularly or she would have loosen her fur - and a naked German Shepheard Dog looks really stupid. :eek:

I'm so glad that you have so much fun with her - and I envy you a little bit. I would like to have a dog again, too. But I live alone and I cannot keep a dog when I'm out of work for most of the day. I cannot do a dog such a mischief. And I don't want a dog sitter who spends more time with the dog than I would...:cry: ...but I still dream of my Labrador or Alaskan Malamute...:(

Yer, she's been pretty good, as these are all first time events for us both. Her first hair cut today went as good as could be expected, for her first time. Lots of treats got her through it...

Was Lily fine with getting washed?

No problem at all....we read afterwards how to introduce puppy's to the sink, tap, water.. a week long ordeal to get to a bath but we just put her in and she was fine :)

Lily post first haircut (and yes it looks like she has a long piece of hair to the right of her nose but she doesn't - it's just because it is white that it stands out). Even trimmed her paws, tail and ears. A bit nerve wracking as I didn't want to hurt her but between us it turned out well.

Don't stop dreaming of your Labrador! I have a black lab now and she's a dream! I'm currently dreaming of a labradoodle (mini poodle x labrador) and one day I will have one (or possibly another poodle cross).

I think this post is great because for now we can all live vicariously through @Nicolette and @anthony

PS @anthony, did you purchase the extra cuteness insurance for the forum? I think the site may implode due to excessive puppy cuteness! (Maybe we need to bump up the yearly donation goal to cover this unexpected expense! :rofl: )

@Nicolette and @Solara : Thank you so much....! I didn't intend to stop dreaming of a dog. When I visited a friend who has a dog...I felt how much I miss the direct contact to animals. :( ...but I still have plenty of time and we'll see.
