What Are You Feeling Today? Not Thinking, Rather Feeling! Can You Identify Yours?

@MariaY, DBT stands for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT.) Dialects are when two things that seem contradictory are simultaneously true and valid. Briefly, DBT is all about balancing acceptance and change.

There's a whole bunch of very specific skills that are taught as part of DBT, in distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectively, and especially mindfulness.

Some examples of dialectics are "I'm doing the best I can, AND I have to do better." "I feel like shit, AND I know I can tolerate it." "I feel really alone with my memories and flashbacks, AND I know I have a team of people who support me and care about my well-being."

Thank you, Lola! I understand that the feelings are not judged if they are «positive» or «negative»-aceptance/rejection, but the negatives are recognized, instead of the self blamming ussual trip I do

I feel relieved that my 10 a.m. student cancelled, and I have some time to myself.

I feel sad that I'm always sad all the time (ffs, sometimes I just can't stand myself)

I feel committed to try to replace negative self-comments like the above with more self-validating and self-compassionate ones!)

I feel anxious about work, AND at the same time, proud of myself for pushing through.
 
Anxious but resigned. I'm also feeling a bit sorry for myself.

I think I'm going to be tackling a big memory in therapy today. It keeps coming to mind, and I know I should do something about it. I am hoping I'll get to the point that it feels like it belongs to me by the end of my session today. I'm also whining a bit at myself for not letting me off the hook.
