Disgusted and sorrowful...and ashamed as a human...yet again...after watching What the Health on Netflix. Must vent to release the energies.
I already was aware of much of what they share, but seeing it verifies things repeatedly. Seeing these supposedly helpful organizations blatantly ignore and deflect the multiple opportunities to publicly speak up about why they support and are heavily sponsored by the very industries causing much of the chronic dis-ease we suffer with makes it clear how much of a widespread issue the disconnect truly is.
Still have clean drinking water? If so, give a hell of a lot of thanks each time you take a sip because it likely won't last for long if things keep going in the direction they have been. Flint, Michigan isn't the only town in dire trouble with their water supply, although it's the one most publicized.
So many dots unconnected by the average consumers. Meat and dairy farms create some pretty shitty living environments for the animals they exploit as well as the humans ingesting it and living around it. A breeding ground for dis-ease, to say the least. All that shit has to go somewhere, ay? How's the drinking water in your town? Live near an industrial farm? Might want to look into it and not just trust what you're being told.
The World Health Organization has already declared processed meats (includes lunch meats, deli meats, pepperoni, turkey, poultry, red meat, etc., etc.) as a carcinogen, on the same level as tobacco and asbestos, yet the agencies in charge of supposedly helping people (and taking their money) to "research" cancer, etc. to find cures are heavily and steadily promoting recipes and diets that include all this toxic shit. It seems their researchers aren't very thorough, to say the least.
Look at the school menus, hospital menus, nursing home menus, and look at what is made the most affordable and accessible in most areas. Meat and dairy industries help fund many of the supposed higher institutions of learning, too, so you likely won't learn much of this, if any, in those environments either, nor do the medical doctors who are treating us. Job security/profit margin is the bottom line, it seems, not actual concerns for health and wellness. Sickness guarantees a return, wellness does not.
Dairy apparently increases chances of breast cancer by 49% (they referenced all the stats and info in the movie), but the pink ribbons from the Susan G. Komen foundation rip-offs are slapped all over the dairy products (and many other toxic ones) making folks assume it's a healthy enough option and truly supports a good cause. Look at the diets recommended by the folks over at the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society, etc., etc. Packed full of carcinogens, and then some. Grrrrrr... At what point does the irony and clarity finally set in and make these dots more easily connectable by the average consumers?
Grateful for the anger and passion that keeps fueling my desire to continue to enact healthier changes within my own biology and reach every chance I get. It's a f*cking jungle out there. A damn toxic one at that, mostly on purpose and very much by design, as it appears to me, based on several years of looking behind the curtains and doing some of my own direct experience "research". Sickening shit. I think I need a shower to feel clean again after that big dump.
