What can more mature people do about pedophiles?

I'm really glad that i'm not sexually attracted to kids, however, when i studying this through google, i found something about it being genetic. I do like teenage girls to a degree, yet when i tried hitting on girls who were around college age, both times they told someone false information about it and i hope i never do it again. However, I also don't think having temptations to do that should always result in someones death. Are there actually any problems with pedophiles being stigmatized? I remember when i was at my friends house when i was 18, some friend of my friends mom said i was cute, then i sarcastically joked that she was a pedophile. She went and told my friends mom how much it upset her and i think i ended apologizing to her on the phone.

Are you saying you might have a pedophile gene? If so, I'd suggest that this is an entirely inappropriate forum to work through that issue, since the feedback you have access to here is from ptsd sufferers (the issue there is self-evident).

Pedophilia has nothing to do with death. And whether it should invoke the death penalty is clearly not the conversation you're attempting to have, so it's hard to see this statement as anything other than deliberately, and pointlessly, provocative given your audience.

What does this example have to do with anything? You said something offensive once. So?

You've mentioned in another thread that you can be a bully, and it sounds like your interpersonal skills could do with a lot of work. But that's clearly not what this thread is about.

Either make an attempt to get to the point, or cut it out.

I don’t understand the title of this thread. What do you mean by ‘more mature people’? And what should they do about paedophiles in what way?

And, to be honest, I’m confused about pretty much your whole post - the points you’re making, what you’re asking us, and what sort of responses you’re hoping/expecting to get here…

From what I can make out:

You say you’re not sexually attracted to kids…but that you do like teenage girls… (you know teenagers still aren’t adults, right?)

You’ve hit on some teenage girls before and it sounds like it didn’t turn out too well for you…

You say you ‘hope’ you won’t do that again…but it sounds like you’re saying you don’t think ‘having temptations to do that’ (by ‘that’, do you mean flirt with teenagers? Or have sex with teenagers? Or feel sexually attracted to them? Or something else?) should necessarily have serious/negative consequences? (I’m not sure what death has to do with it. Are you referring to paedophiles getting the death penalty?)

You have researched paeodophilia online and have read something that suggests it may be genetic. (Are you suggesting that you feeling attracted to teenagers may be because you have a paedophile gene? And/or that, if paedophilia is genetic, it’s not a paedophile’s fault if they are sexually attracted/act on their attraction?)

To be honest, for me, people making excuses for paedophilia and paedophiles is a bigger problem! I’m not sure if that was your intention in this post, but that’s how it comes across to me.

Suggesting that it’s a problem that paedophiles are stigmatised is highly provocative - especially given you are writing on a PTSD forum!

The example with your mum’s friend…I don’t really know what you mean by this…are you saying that this is an example of how we have stigmatised paedophiles? Because your friend’s mum was upset by you calling her a paedophile? Are you saying that someone shouldn’t consider it an insult to be called a paedophile (as a joke or otherwise)?

Having thought all that through and written it all out, I’m now wondering if you’re just looking to get a rise out of people here, as I cannot actually see what you’re really looking to achieve with this post. But I’ve written it all now so will post it anyway!
