Seeing the two bunnies who live in our neighborhood. Some of us have begun feeding them with special bunny food to try to keep them out of the yard of the guy who wants to kill them because they eat stuff in his garden. Sorry to mention that, but it's a real concern to us. We want to protect these animals. I'm always glad when I see them in safe yards.

A little bat, possibly with a baby hanging onto it:inlove:

I drove home slowly last night, it was windy and raining, and the toads come out and sit on the road when it's wet. I drive slowly so I can spot them and hopefully avoid running them over. there was a dead one this morning, near where I park , I hope it wasn't me who got it. It's also difficult NOT to run rabbits over. I try my best not to, but there are so many and they often run out just ahead of me.

When I got out of my car, I thought it was a toad on the wet concrete, but it tried to fly when I got closer, so I caught it. It was furious and had a real go at biting all around my hand. I don't think it managed to penetrate my skin, but it certainly tried.

It soon settled. I couldn't get a good look, because the light was poor, but I'm pretty sure it had a half grown baby hanging on to its front.

I held it in my cupped hands for about 10 minutes to let it dry its fur and stop shivering. I did consider hanging it on my bathroom towel and leaving the window open, but decided it would probably be better if it was outside and near where I found it.

I set it off to climb up the Yorkshire boarding on the side of the former farm shed, it climbed up my thumb on the way and went through the gap between the boards into the space between the boards and the concrete blocks, a tiny furry body with really shiny black eyes.

I gave my hands a really good wash with detergent.

I don't know whether the wind had blown it (them?) out of a tree or whether a cat had dropped it as I drove in.

Kids at Vacation Bible School. I was in charge o the Prayer Center for them and they prayed about ailing elderly loved ones, of course, but one little girl thanked God for "life and death" and another told God to tell her grammy that she loved her (and grammy is in Heaven). One also thanked God for her best friend. They wrote their prayers with crayons and many of them could not yet spell, so I had to decifer a lot of the prayers as I read them and prayed about them.

Anarchy, please do get a test for rabies. Just to be on the safe side. Adorable story, though. I'm glad some people like bats. We get them in our house occasionally, as do many in our town, and have come up with a system to get them out without hurting them. I've always been scared of handling them. Good for you for providing some comfort, but I still hope you get tested. Rabies can be life-threatening!

It's pretty rare in bats here. Officially Britain is rabies free, but it does sometimes show up in bats and a person caught it by handling bats a few years ago and died.
our bats are just little insect eaters - we don't have any blood sucking ones

I'm a good distance from continental Europe and sources of infection, but I'll phone the doctor's tomorrow
