I ran into someone whom I always enjoyed seeing when I went to this dollar store here in town but I have missed seeing her there. She confided in me why she was no longer working there and it is because of their male manager. She told me how uncomfortable she feels when she is around him.

It moved me because she told me that she would come back to work at this place if this manager was no longer there. This manager has also made me feel uncomfortable as I am not his "sweetie" and I guess he is doing that to other customers too.

So hopefully one day, I will see her again at this store!

Great thread idea.

I’m reading a book on the communist revolution in China and it’s not my first journey into the subject. Regardless the mind boggling contempt Mao and Stalin have for human life genuinely moved me today. I’m usually detached and Spock-like reading about history. Today their subhuman actions enraged and saddened me. Reading about 20thC history has taught me the utter worthlessness of a human life. How disposable we are. Fodder. Anonymous. And people wonder why I’m a misanthrope.
