What Tv Shows Do You Watch When Having A Rough Time?

TV is often a welcome distraction when I'm not feeling great. Movies are too long of a commitment, but I can often binge watch a TV show for hours. These are my go-tos when I can't deal with real life:
  • Murder, She Wrote: I love, love, love this show. And there are so many seasons! Angela Lansbury is my hero. The clothing is great, problems are neatly wrapped up in a bow, and it's always entertaining. I watch it when I need some comforting. It's like a hot cup of tea.
  • Law & Order SVU: I know there are conflicting opinions on this show, but I like it when I'm feeling angry or frustrated. It's so nice to watch people stand up for, get angry for, and show compassion for victims of horrible crimes. It's cathartic.
  • Rick and Morty: a cartoon and Adult Swim so that should tell you all you need to know if you're not familiar. It's about a pretty messed up family and the mad scientist who lives with them and takes his grandson on space adventures. Hilarious and pretty dark. It's great when you need a laugh but are feeling too jaded for more traditional humor.
  • Other shows I love are Supernatural (I'm in love with Dean), Grimm, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
What TV shows do you find yourself turning to?

Lately nothing. Used to watch a lot of K-drama for amusement though.

Have to be feeling better to be able to watch shows. Otherwise too distracted by flashbacky thoughtmovies.

Historical documentaries - recently watched Ken Burns series about the Roosevelts. Love that shows like this can immerse me in another time period.

Gilmore Girls - a nice distracting feel-good show

Frasier, Cheers, Seinfeld - love these and other 80s/90s sitcoms. Again just fun distractions.

Grey's Anatomy - sort of a guilty pleasure but I love it.

Little House on the Prarie - nostalgic and inspiring. One happy part of my childhood was watching this with my sis and dressing up like Mary and Laura.

I also like lots of reality shows - even some of the "dumb" or "guilty pleasure" ones like the Bachelor or MTVs Catfish.

I also like reality shows about living off the grid like Life Below Zero

And finally I still love many old and new cartoons...Rugrats, Spongebob, Adventure Time, Daria...etc.

Grimm is great :-) I also watch Agents of Shield, Agent Carter and Once Upon a Time. And MASH 4077. And Futurama. I plan to add some more when I catch up with the current episodes.

Yes me too exactly. Too freaked out to watch anything.

Schitt's Creek, Modern Family etc make me laugh. If I could bring myself to do it I'd watch Bluebloods, The Good Wife, Saving Hope, Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds (not the start), etc. But I don't think I've watched 10 hours total & a few movies since august. :( I've had Netflix 2 years & watched I think 5 movies. :(

I have to avoid shows that may trigger me. It sucks because some if them are really good shows too, or are popular among friends. But it's not worth a flashback or day of bad memories. :/

Not so much currently but...The Honeymooners, M*A*S*H [thanks for the reminder]. I like documentaries. Also, air crash investigation, just recently. I'm familiar with almost all the accidents explained but I love the reenactments and interviews of the investigators and survivors, if any. I don't care much for the emotional side but I do understand the need to attract viewers and make it relevant.

Edit: adult swim cartoons and ER

And I don't have a TV but I can get most of it on hulu or youtube.
