I feel like some f*cked up higher power is just trying to see how much pressure will crack me. When does it stop??

I came into work today to 2 emails. One from our CEO and one from EVP Human Resources. I read each email 20 times to make sure I was reading right as this company has done this once already. This one I wont make it through.

They are laying off 7% - 8% OF THE ENTIRE COMPANY. This is a Nationwide, global employer, company. Its a f*cking big ass company. Last time it was sales. This times its all of us, tech support included. By the beginning of the year.

Besides this not making sense to me, there are no jobs here. Its a super long story why. I dont qualify for a severence. And stuck at my apartment for a year.

I feel so defeated. I dont have much fight left. I am SO angry at myself for not becoming certified, which takes money, a lot of money but because im not, and dont have a degree, I cant get hired for actual real IT jobs.

I just dont know how much more I can take before I just give up.

I hear you....

Sorry for the shit situation, but keep an open mind in the near future. I took up on a more rare trade that pays well, so I never have to get another email from a CEO, EVP, SOB, or any other 3 lettered tool, again. I was terrified....well still am, but I don't ever want to work for someone else again.

Here's good luck sent your way regardless.

Sorry, can just hope you aren't one of the laid off one's. Sometimes, apartments let you off if you have no job. Would you qualify for unemployment? Have you considered changing to a busier location, for better odds?

@lostforgottensoul ok, this sucks big time. I'm not trying to make it sound like it's ok, because right now it isn't. I know that you must be hurting, confused, scared and pissed as hell too. Don't blame you..

You are not stuck in your apartment for a whole year. I am assuming that statement was in reference to a lease. I took an apartment a couple of yrs ago, and was only there for 3 weeks, when things turned to shit. Told the landlord I had to move out. He went ballistic and said he would hold me to the lease. I called my attorney, who is a friend and he explained that even though there is a lease, if you need to break it, the BURDEN LIES with the landlord to find another tenant. I moved out in a few weeks, and that was that. No problem.

As far as the job is concerned.... I honestly don't know what to say. The economy SUCKS, jobs are scare, and people everywhere are scared. Myself included, and I am self employed.

Keep your head up, try not to loose it, and hang in there....

@lostforgottensoul hi...I am so sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I know I've been m.i.a but I want you to know I think of you often and I'm sending positive thoughts your way.

Hang in there you are SO STRONG..... you will get through this.

Hugs to you my friend

the BURDEN LIES with the landlord to find another tenant.

They make you sign this legal form that gives you two options to sign under, if you break the lease you will either pay the each month until the apartment is rented or you will pay the amount of rent to the end of the lease. You re-sign that each time you renew.

I mean they cant get turnips from a yum truck but Florida will garnish wages for a ton of shit. Ive never broken a lease so if they do for that i dont know.

Sorry, still at work for another hour so i'll give a more thought out reply but just wanted to reply to that one point because i think it may change stuff?

I have been in a similar situation and agree with you; however, in my experience, whether or not they actually go after you for the money is dependent on how determined the leasing agency/landlord is. It's possible it could just be a hit on your credit score or they could take you to court. It's also possible they rent out the place immediately and only keep your name as a "never rent to this person again." It usually costs them more money to chase after you than to just focus on renting the place out to someone new. Sometimes it's a good idea to give them a heads up months ahead of time, if you can, to avoid the situation altogether - but that can be risky if you're dealing with a strict landlord. I've done this before and it worked out well as we lined up someone to take my place as soon as possible.

Regardless, I'm really sorry you're going through this. Life has its way of dumping everything all at once sometimes... or all the time.

Have you looked into IT contracting jobs? or help desk? I was in the field years ago with only experience and for interim pay, I worked long distance from a company as a contractor sent out to do onsite work... was paid only for the jobs I accepted.

Hang in there. I know we don't know each other, but I've read many of your posts and support you from afar. Somehow, it will work out.

Yeah, being in any workplace really one has those thoughts, because there really is no job out there that can be considered safe.

I have worked for businesses before and after having to face ridiculous business practices and the bosses cheating me right out of my money I just became their competitor.
How you ask? You use all that great knowledge you accumulated in that company and start your own enterprise. It is very important for those capitalistic pigs to not win.

** I started to write this last night & fell asleep** Im sorry to have not read anyone's reply yet. I promise i will. But to top off eveything, i got gas after work and my car wont start back up. It acts like the battery is dead (and i cant see if corrosion is on the battery as my retarded side post battery cables has these like rubber things covering them. Youtube'd then once and you have to take the post fully off to take them off. I may do it in the morning) but when i got a lady to help me with a jump it would turn over and almost crank and then like a loud "DUNK".

This HAD to happen when my dad is in Nashville at his sister's funeral whom passed away the other day. And REALLY so very f*cking pissed off at myself, knowing my car badly needed to go in the shop Saturday but being lazy and couldnt seem to get out of the house. If i knew it was going to die a few days later i would have forced myself but no excuse. Im a f*ckung lazy slob!

Allstate Motor club is USELESS. 3 HOURS i waited. Freaking the f*ck out! So bad that i was leaning over into the grass and throwing up. First two was them looking for a tow truck and then ended up telling me that one was coming and they called the cops so dont panic when i see the cops. The cops told me that they do that in case im in a bad area or on 1-4 or something. I thought a tow truck was coming. Didnt think anything of it.

We spent the next hour trying to jump it where it was turning over "DUNK"....turning over "DUNK". Sound like its about to crank "DUNK". A loud "DUNK" too. One of the cops made a comment 3 times about oil on mu engine. I knew oil was leaki g but it wasnt leaking bad. A quart a month, maybe longer. But i always though it came out of where im putting it. He said no, that its coming from my engine and said something about a gasket. A valve gasket maybe? But said it wasnt good at all.

All of this is greek to me. I swear to f*cking god the next thing im self teaching is myself is car machanics.

I waited a bit longer, 3 hrs into this, and called AllState Motor Club back to be told that because they couldnt find a tow truck they sent the cops instead (A of a tow truck AND the cops as they orginally told me.) I call one in Orlando...thwy gave me the name for the local area, 3 and a half hours later im out $99, im home but every piece of my body is in tremendous pain, its almost 3am and have to get up at 8 to figure out how to fix my car as i got the day off for a medical producdure which im now going to have to cancel same day which is even more money.

I just want to go away as i dont have fight left, most especially this much fight.

We all know how it feels to have some shit happen, and then MORE shit gets dumped on top of that. Feels like the universe is out to get us. I went through a bit of $$ this past 4 weeks. First my glasses (that I just got 1 1/2 years ago,) BROKE and could not be fixed, so new glasses. Then, my mattress was absolutely killing me, so new mattress 2 weeks later. Only a couple of days later, my car shit the bed. Between towing and repair, almost $350. Wasn't a good month. But I survived, and you will too.

I know it feels like it's the shitty PTSD, but really, it's called LIFE. Sometimes LIFE sucks. Hang in there and this too shall pass. Keep your head, don't lose it, and somehow things will work out.
