Well, actually they do. If a culture does not have such a word, then it changes everything. You are working on what you know, your learning, your culture. I am not disagreeing that within Western culture, rape is rape is rape. But I am not going to ignore other cultures and languages, where such words and definitions do not exist. Go and tell a tribe who eat human brain that its wrong. You will be one of their meals. They don't have the language or meaning equivalent to English and Western cultures. Are we right or are they? According to you, you're right. Go ask them, according to those cultures, they will be right.Rape is rape is rape and the definitions of rape don’t change by culture.
You can't take a broad brush and apply it to everyone in the world, as much as you might like to, you just can't. That is intolerant and ignorant of others cultures. I have no plans on visiting such places or living in them, but they exist. If I visit or wanted to live in another country, I am expected to respect that countries culture and rules. I have the same expectation of someone visiting / wanting to live in my country.
