Based on some non PTSD related items I bought Amazon suggested a movie called "The Lucky One" to me... which I have no watched so far... but maybe will because I love kitschy woman's movies... but I have to ask my husband first.

However... both main characters in the movie seem to have PTSD if my info is right... how do you think about PTSD being the background story for a cheesy love story?

Which movies about PTSD do you like?

Oh, could you explain why? I watched it and cannot remember PTSD playing a role at all.

My husband actually does not like this portrayal. He thinks Lt. Dan needs a haircut and a shower.

Hmm... maybe Fried Green Tomatoes? I'm thinking about how Idgie hardens and becomes something of a rebel after the sudden and rather horrible death of her brother (I still leave the room when that scene is playing) yet retains a sweetness and generosity that rounds out her sharp edges. It's that very toughness that makes her such a rock for characters needing protection, as when she rescues Ruth from her abusive husband or when she protects Big George from impending murder charges.

There's an extensive thread on fictional characters with PTSD in books and movies, though it doesn't mention whether they are portrayed positively or not. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Here you go: Fictional Characters With PTSD - Movies/film, Tv and Literature. Posted in the Social forum.

I'd have edited the above post to add this, but I see the OP has already liked that post so am posting this separately so she doesn't miss it.
