Perhaps add a category for Religious person or religion?
If it was a religious person, then it is either friend or stranger, depending how you define them. Religion would come under the last option, was not a person but situation (religion is a situation).

My family was always very upfront and honest. That's what made it difficult for me to recognize and comprehend the devious behavior of others ("friends" (note the quote/unquote) and people I didn't know). Meanwhile, they were creating a world of havoc around me. The hardest part was trying to make logical sense of their behavior. It took me years to realize that their behavior DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, so it never will add up. If a person does not have morals, they won't make sense, daahhhh.

Now I watch my environment and everything around me, including my back(!), and I am very careful how close I let people get near me, physically and emotionally.

I was primarily traumatized by both parents, however. the worst single incident trauma that I recall was torture by electricity in conjunction with sexual abuse and I think this only happened at the church, by the pastor and deacon, due to the fact they had the pedophilia knowledge to use against my dad and could do what they liked with no fear of being turned into authorities. Blackmail both ways. So I do think the abuse at home led to further abuse in other situations (church) as my dad was attracted to fellow psychopaths.

Mine was my mother, both in frequency and chronologically.

Seeing the results and thinking about frequency versus chronological importance got me to thinking about my nephew by marriage. He was severely abused by his mom when he was less than a year old, maybe less than six months old. His dad raised him after that and no one ever told him what his mom did to him. He tried to enlist in the military as an adult, but was discharged because he had a mental breakdown in there. When he described it to me, it was obvious that he had a PTSD reaction to the people yelling at him.

Since then, he got a rather easy going job, got married, seems to be fine. Still talks to his mom, unfortunately. No one has told him about what she did. He argues with his dad a lot, but his dad is hard to get along with. He made sure he was taken care of, didn't yell at him or put him in bad situations, just kind of thoughtless with the way he talks.

Anyway, I thought of it with this poll.

My mother was the first, my aunt also did her fair share, but my dad put me through absolute hell with a smile on his face. I chose my mother and father as they're the two who really damaged me.
