Tony Stark aka Iron Man is my favorite superhero. We share two of the same disorders: Bipolar and PTSD. Yes! Stark has PTSD and you see him struggle with in in Iron Man III. There are many things I love about Tony, because they are aspects I can relate to. For instance, his father never told him he loved him, was cold, negligent and distant...and nothing Tony ever did was good enough for his father. That's almost the story of my life right there with my own parents. Tony isn't perfect. He isn't your typical superhero, and its this and his personality faults that make me love him so much. While he's done some horrible things, he tries very hard to redeem himself and make the world a better place, even if he makes major mistakes along the way. He is an extremely flawed characters. And therefore brilliant.
And we are both from NY, and our birthdays are two days apart. I just think that's so cool.
What I take from Tony is striving to be better than I am. To feel more confident. That is okay to be yourself, no matter how unorthodox, weird and quirky you are. I'm also a very eccentric person, so I appreciate him a lot on that level. However, he also isn't honest with people, particularly about his feelings and problems. He hides behind, not just an iron mask, but an emotional facade to hide what he truly feels inside. That is also something I do and can relate to.
So who is your favorite superhero and why? I guess I've gone pretty in depth, but I have a background in psychology so I analyze characters in movies.
