News Why It's So Hard To Talk To White People About Racism

Did Ed Nortons stuff get deleted? I think I was insulted in there somewhere but I can't follow some of the string. Being insulted and not knowing it is a let down.....

Dreads?

Ok my view may sound so wrong but I'm going to say it anyway.

Personally I can't say I've ever seen a Caucasian person of non African descent who has ever really looked good in dreads. Seriously.

On the other hand, those of African descent with dreads often do look good!

I have no dog in this fight, but I can understand the argument of cultural theft and why it offends some.

So not meaning to totally brush aside the issue, but seriously, would it help to just laugh at all those Caucasian people with dreads and think hey, you're always going to be an approximation of how it's done best?

Maybe I'm not explaining myself well. Regardless of what it is, I always believe in looking your best for your body type and in the end, non African hair doesn't lend itself to decent dreads. (Adam Duritz of the counting crows doesn't count. His dreads are extensions!)

Not meant to offend. Not slamming dreads. Slamming BAD dreads in Caucasian hair LOL.

Funny both in Bill's and my former lines of work guesses and speculation gets people killed. It's easier to prove I never killed anyone in mine with guesses and speculation (I didnt crash) but I think the burden of proof that he never killed anyone or gotten anyone killed through guesses and speculations is QUITE a bit harder and his type guesses and speculations are quite evident here...don't guess Bill take me off ignore for a minute and check then put me back on. I mean your profession almost killed me before but here it's I'm rubber you're glue whatever you say to me bounces of of me and sticks to you.

In my new profession I won't be allowed to ignore people who I hate so for practice, I've self banned my ignore feature.

G'day

burden of proof that he never killed anyone or gotten anyone killed

Ed, can we please not?
Things done in the line of duty better stay there.

I understand the perspective you're coming from, but this really is a low blow. Killing is a tad personal thing and making these accusations against a fellow member just to oppose a point is something one doesn't need for raising and discussing those points, either. There's no necessity for something of this grade.

Yeah I know----but that assuming attitude in a cop scares me---i didn't say he did kill just said that it hard to prove when you are on the defensive about something you can't even see---they didn't see me they assumed and they were cops--how will I know? plus to be fair guesses and speculations can get other cops killed too

sorry but with cops I don't know who's who and if I see one jump to conclusions and get defensive I assume they are like the one's who came for me. had me on ignore and came for me I don't bother him but I think it's in the rules no ad hominem and this is a dirty topic.

Not one cop here ever told me yes some of us are bad but I'm good they ignore me, I guess and I think the reason is because for some--not sayings anyone's name...it's hard to look their victims in the eyes...orobsbly better he never mentioned my name but if I broke an actual rule please report me as o'er the instructions and staff will handle the infraction as they see fit

I standby all my posts---sorry Cashew

Also was my experience considered 'things done in the line of duty?' and best kept secret?
Shall I go to help desk and ask that my trauma diary be deleted then? I think I know the answer to that question if I were to do so, therefore I won't waste bandwidth,

I feel I've truly said enough of of the good, bad and ugly here, I will answer some if the airplane questions posed earlier in PC but I don't have more to really say I'm not here to shout invective and in one old post I admit to being innapropiate and I have to own that.

Also, personal circumstances will not allow me the ability to participate in this thread, as I'm overwhelmed with emotions from unrelated things due to a role that I will not discuss but have chosen certain emotional burdens-and I don't think I can handle a heavy topic like this. I would like to thank @Ms Spock for being brave enough to broach such a difficult topic and emotive topic but I not only love her 2000 words about her 'Whiteness' even 10000 words about it would be lovely to her from a beautiful hearted Irish Australian Lady, she is.

I will leave my sentiments on the very last topic cultural appropriation--Well since I'm a pretty substantial mix of Red, Black, Brown and White, at least biologically. I think I'm rechnically allowed to wear dreads and Traditional African clothing on a reservation while speaking only Spanish and playing Irish snare drum rudiments but that's ridiculous- I feel Latino my Grandma calls me a 'Spanish boy' I have a and keeps a Puerto Rican Flag in her living room..The different cultures and races from my maternal side I call my family- no shame, no denial whatever great people my cousin's probably say they are Barbadian...or Black...my male cousin is a cop lol---my son's adoptive grandma is Jewish his mother Puerto Rican my cousin-the cop- married a Half Black/ Half Puerto Rican lady who a lovely person my Black Brother is Latino-Panamanian but my My dad is on the Birth Certificate and we share surnames as a result. Somehow my son and I have thick obvious Newyorican accents-dont ask how and mine is 'worse' so my aunt and mother switches between a new York, Barbadian and Southern accent, I can do North Carolina and Barbadian accents perfectly as a demo cuz of grandpa and grandma---so The only real solution for us is to be ourselves...

I shall now bow out gracefully from this thread for the vague aforementioned reason and I do apologize for my grammar and spelling or punctuation error that may cause some to eat their grandma but I'm on a old difficult device until mine is repaired

Adios

Sure thing Ed, and it was enlightening hearing your experiences with the topic and thoughts on it as well, quite enriching months of discussing.

I hope I haven't added additional distress to you with my latest remarks, and I'm glad to see you're minding your health first.

Peace & Care.

Oh I didn't say that Cashew just if people wish to avoid assumptions, guesses and speculations or possible implications then it's best they don't act like what I saw and experienced by asuuming , guessing, speculating, or implicating cuz if have a gun and power and let's face it a lot of immunity it's a huge burden and I think a certain decorum is needed to assure me that they won't be needlessly lethal then I have to address the possibility. Pilots have all the responsibility and authority and in an emergency can break hundreds of laws to the extent necessary to face the emergency and of course get priority over all other aircraft---14 CFR 91.3 (Responsibility and Authority of The Pilot in Command) But we have another one to reel in our loons 14.CFR 91.13 -Reckless and Careless Operation which can mean almost anything..and it usually results in revocation of your Airman's certificate -they say 'man' not me--Those rules were written in blood how much blood do police have to needlessly spill before a similar very restrictive but very free system is in place for them--that is REAL and HARSHLY ENFORCED?

In other posts you may make concerning my wording we will have to agree to disagree--because I really, For Really Real, Truly, Really wish to say no more here.

G'day Cashew
