@Hope4Now I put it as my picture on a social network and got a surprising amount of responses, I think a lot of people feel this way. I am glad you are getting supporters, I have a couple of really good ones but one in particular you just seems to be getting it at the moment.

@Wolvescry In some way I am glad you can relate but in others I wish we didn't have to hide. Still it is a good analogy to use on bad days. All I need to do now is say I am a duck to my friend and she will get it!

Ellis is a new favorite. I love her whole album, Wherever You Are.
This song, Right on Time, calmed me down today.

I haven't posted on this thread for a long time...I've found so many healing bits and pieces over the past months...some new, some rediscovered. So...get ready if there's anybody out there reading and listening!

Here's the first one. Swimming To The Other Side. It's an old Pat Humphries folk song. Emma's Revolution has a really nice recording of it, but it's not on YouTube. This is The Mystic Chorale singing it (a really cool group based in Massachusetts USA...Here's their mission statement...there should be way more groups like this as music is a path to healing the world):
The Mystic Chorale is a non-profit, volunteer run community chorus based in Arlington, MA.
Our Mission is to:
  • Make music a participatory experience, creating a dynamic collaboration among the bold and the shy, the untrained and the trained, the audience and the performers, challenging all of us to be truly amazing.
  • Promote singing as an act of compassion, believing that when we create harmony we make the world a more beautiful place, and, in so doing, become a healing voice for our communities and ourselves.
  • Explore through song the musically rich and diverse cultures that abound in the world, celebrating the very best in all of us.
We welcome all who love to sing! .

Hey, I only just discovered this thread and I LOVE IT! Thank you for sharing :)

I thought maybe I could contribute with some poems of my own... When I visited my parents at my childhood home I found my old book of poems that I wrote when I was ages between 9-12 and went through a phase of wanting to become a singer/songwriter. I have started to translate these poems (they were originally written in Finish as that's my first language) to give that little girl a voice who suffered through really bad sexual abuse but could still find hope, beauty and creativity through these songs/poems.

I start with a Christmas poem as that time of year is approaching. I hope you like it.

Prayer on the Holy Night:

Tonight Thy kindom come
Tonight Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven

Thy pure white glow
Let descend upon the earth
Thy only child
Let us praise His humble birth

Thy wisdom and power
Let every dark thought exile
Thy light of truth
Let our weary souls revive

Tonight Thy kindom come
Tonight Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven

@Muruluisku that is quite beautiful. What an amazing experience it must have been to read your work from when you were a child. Thank you for sharing it and please do share your poetry! Just be aware that I think the legal part of this site is set up so that anything you post on the Forum becomes the property of the forum. So if you are thinking of publishing, you may want to express it in a different way. It's why I don't put any of my stuff up here. I don't quite understand all the implications of their policy.

Thank you for your kind comment @Hope4Now!

I've got no intention to publish these poems so no worries, but thanks for letting me know. This is just a creative outlet for me and a way to get in touch with my inner child. Glad if I can comfort / inspire you guys with my stuff :)

This is a gentle and beautiful piece by Liz Longley. About relationships. I'm thinking regular external relationships, but also our internal relationships with parts of ourselves...especially all those hurt child parts.
