Researchers have found significantly lower birth weights in male infants -- an average decrease of 38 grams, or approximately 1.3 ounces -- born to women who had been exposed to trauma at some point in their lives and who secreted higher levels of cortisol, a hormone related to stress, in late pregnancy.

1.3 ounces???

FFS. My son was 10lbs when he was born. That’s 160 ounces. Gee. Yeah. I should thank my lucky stars he wasn’t 161.3 ounces. That might’ve hurt.

Statistically Significant vs Real World Significance.

Mine varied. Smallest one was 5lb.10 oz (my 2nd born and the son on the spectrum, also deemed a "failure to thrive" baby), largest one was 11lb 13 oz (my youngest, he's now already 6 ft and only 12).

1. 6.1
2. 6.3
3. 6.11

All small. All boys.

This was prior to knowing I had been traumatized at all. I, and my unborn children went through hell during their entire pregnancies and during nursing. Rarely have I been that sick.

My trauma started in the womb. Now that I recognize what trauma feels like, yes, I and my children were absolutely affected by my trauma through their gestation.
