I was just checking through the related PTSD news, and come across this little story about how a softball player coming back from an ankle injury, isn't playing the same. Sports doctors are saying its a form of sports trauma PTSD. And if your laughing too hard at the moment at just how stupid these ****en doctors are becoming about PTSD, then get this bit, as they answered their own question within the damn statement.
All this shows, is that the world truly is turning to morons to base our future upon. All this says to me, is that people are looking for excuses across every aspect of life to get in on the PTSD frenzy and diagnose people for everything and anything than can...
F*ck me, life is traumatic by itself, but you don't get diagnosed with PTSD at birth, do you? Half brained dead shits once again populating news sources for nothing other than something to do.
Firstly, PostTraumatic Stress Syndrome is not PTSD, it is PTSS, and actually is classified that way, and I doubt anyone could get that even from a sport injured ankle playing softball... Gee, I must of missed these parts within the symptoms and diagnosis of PTSD!Sports psychologists refer to your situation as a post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) particular to athletes. It is difficult to study this subject because finding an instrument that measures trauma related to sports incidents is challenging.
Researchers R. Renee Newcomer and Frank M. Perna conducted a study funded by a grant from the National Athletic Trainers Association comparing athletes pre- and post-injury. The subjects were 140 girls and 143 boys from four varsity sports most prone to injury: football, soccer, basketball and volleyball. Using an established psychological questionaire, they investigated the occurrence of intrusive thought and the practice of avoidance behavior in athletes who were sidelined with a severe injury lasting at least seven days. They were then evaluated against a healthy athlete matching them in sport, gender, age and starting status. While the study showed no statistical significance, the injured athletes' scores increased by 35-49 percent from pre- to post-injury. The control group showed minimal changes of less than 1 percent.
