The government has been all over the place in what they believe is needed and what they believe is being stolen or hoarded. From someone just observing/watching the news, I actually have no idea what we're doing. Today we will hear one thing and tomorrow quite another

Yes! American government, get it together! People need to be, at least advised correctly on new information about the virus. People need to be lead. Right now, at least here, people are frailing (is that a word) all over the place trying to figure out what to do.

I personally would just like them to be informative about the virus, where we are, what the next week or so will look like and so forth.

I wish they would mass produce food, paper goods, and sanitzation goods and get it out on the shelves and them mandate that every store limit the amount of it sold to one person. I understand people have families and multiple trips is not good either but this is ridiculous when people cannot get what they need!

That's a great article about the TP shortage.

This refers to a remarkable study that i can't yet find anywhere else:
Are COVID-19 Patients at Risk for PTSD?

They suggest PTSD rates in the first few months after infection and quarantine of Covid 19 is 96% - I wonder if this wouldn't be more acute stress syndrome, but it also makes sense to me.. There is something really awful about being locked up alone because what you have could kill others just by standing near them.

This article is really interesting: Coronavirus & China: Origin in Wuhan Lab Unproven, But Denials Unconvincing | National Review
The author starts off by stating that there is no proven connection. Then it goes into a lot of circumstantial evidence. A lot.

Interesting article on toilet paper. I agree that supply has been all thrown out of sync and that stocks would have diminished and so struggled to maintain anyway, however, from what I personally witnessed in my store in my back-end-of-nowhere town, the original issue was definitely triggered by the initial panic. Cases of actual hoarding were definitely not limited to just a few customers. While not all attempted to purchase half a pallets’ worth in one go (though one did), every single person I saw in those early days- before the lockdown, even before the advice about social distancing, was purchasing multiple packs. Many were literally filling their trolleys with nothing else.

For anyone using gloves: This nurse demonstrates just how fast germs spread even if you're wearing gloves - CNN
There is a great video on how to reduce cross contamination and other problems that happen with wearing gloves.

Also, a better option: use doggie bags to cover hands for a quick purpose instead of gloves. Cheaper, prevents medical supply shortages, and can be fun.

This video is probably one of the most stunning things I have seen so far. It looks like something out of a movie, but it's very real. I've seen more spooky ones about lockdowns in Wuhan, or temp morgue in New York, but somehow, seeing empty cities all over the world drives it home the magnitude of the pandemic in another way.

There is something beautiful about it. I really liked Tel Aviv and New York.

I am in the camp that thinks toilet paper hoarding is people's way of controlling something in a time that which they feel they have no control.

to paraphrase William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid):

Sundance Kid: I can’t swim!
Butch Cassidy: [laughs] Are you crazy? The fall will probably kill ya’.

Why else would so many people be worried about cleaning their bottoms when bigger issues like staying alive by following orders to the best of their ability are at hand?

You know, right now, somewhere in the world someone is on a phone telling someone else "if I get the virus and have to go to the hospital, you can come over here and grab up my toilet paper, OK?"
